Reversible alternator identifier fault (P1A96)

Hi Please can anyone help.
I bought a used alternator for my C4 Grand Picasso year2016 with 180Amps (stop/Start) this came off from a C3 Vehicle. I Placed the alternator in my C4 Grand Picasso and got 2 new messages on Diagbox see pic. My Question is can you identify the alternator to my vehicle using diagbox and if so what menu options? or is the alternator I have just going to work on a Citroen C3.

I spoke to valeo technical line and he checked the part number of the Citroen C3 stop/start alternator to see if it would fit my vehicle. He could not trace the number and said it may be from a European car and he would not have numbers for those vehicles. He also said the alterantor from the C3 may be model specific and would fit a Citroen C3 and not fit a C4 Grand Picasso. He also advised that they have stopped selling parts for alternators.

A reversible alternator works as an alternator and starter motor in one unit, The early C3 Stop/start had no separate starter motor.
I dont know what the setup is on your car if it has a starter motor or not but if it has a starter motor then it wont be compatible, when fitted to the C3 this also has its own separate ECU.

Pop your VIN up so we know what type you are supposed to have.

If you have fitted an incompatible part, the ECU may not be fully recognised or may be incompatible with the electronic architecture of your C4 Picasso.

Yes the last Valeo catalogue I can see online is from 2013 a year before your car was made.

IST60C024 is the marking needed on the alternator label for your reversible.

They are definitely different Naved. Your issue is that the software / is likely to be different between the models - which is why it is important to match the replacement units.

Hi Guys I have someone with the following brand new alternator IST60C028. Is this likely to fit my vehicle ? My old faulty alternator had IST60C032 and Marc advised I need IST60C024. This is something in between. Please advise thanks again for your help.

We don't have those specific characteristics available between the alternators - but all I can tell you is what yours was fitted with.

Hi All,

I tried to source an alternator from Euro***parts but they still have not responded as they are only selling 150Amp no stop start. Contacted Valeo and they advise contact the distributor who is Euro***parts and they should be able to buy from valeo to sell to me but still waiting 2 weeks on. I have no car just the mrs vw polo.
I was tryiing to source a second hand one at £260 with subject to make offer and we could not negotiate a deal around 230 as the guy then went up in price from his counter offer at this point I did not want to buy from him.

Anyway I found another alternator at a whopping price of 75 pounds with make offer from a 2016 DS5 but wait for it.........this alternator has identical IST60C032 and part number which is 9815455980 so I was inclined to make an offer of £65 pounds with 7 pounds shipping from spain. I am expecting this to turn up next week god willing. I will update you to let you know if this has worked. thanks again

okay the original problem Errors I had were

P13BF Overvoltage of the electrical Network

P1A94 Reversible alternator : Power electronics fault - Alternator mode downgraded

P16CF Reversible alternator : Brushes wear fault

I found a replacement alternator but this alternator had the wrong identifier numbers and this caused the error which I presented to the forum:
Reversible alternator identifier fault (P1A96).

I located a used Alternator from a DS5 with same Power rating 180Amps and the part number 9815455980 with IST60C032 from spain and this is now in my vehicle and No errors in DIAGbox. This is now working fine and problem solved. I have mentioned the above to help people out with their problem codes and the fix required.

I have the sme issue in my car same faults,

1st fault comes engine fault stop the vehicle, then after few minutes engine fault repair needed , then gear box fault, and eps , steering light etc all most all ligts of dash board appers , some time battery carger etc faulty

After diagnostic i understand the problem is alternator,

I repair the alternator from a local shop who do reconditioned alternator,

After reconditioned alternator installation all these errors come and as now i cant drive the vehicle since a week so i ordered to peugeot dealers new one with price of £650.

Lets see as i will change it ,hows car will be will update

Diagbox is the proprietary software used by Peugeot / Citroen / DS, but for a 2016 vehicle you will need a Version 9.** and VCI hardware with a suitable laptop.
