Hi guys,
I was planning to perform an oil change on my C3 for the first time.
So just wanted to confirm the recommended Engine oil.
My car model is petrol C3 (A51) 5 DOOR SALOON 1.6 VTi 16v 120. It's a 2011 model.
The maintenance manual recommends Total Activa 9000/Total Quartz 9000 (5W-40 SAE Grade) or Total Active INEO ECS/Total Quartz INEO ECS (5W-30 SAE Grade).
Total engine oil is not readily available in my country.
The auto parts website give me a few options but I wanted to see what are some good tried and tested reputed brands that you guys use.
Is Nulon considered decent?

Thanks in advance.

Re: C3 petrol - Which engine oil to use?
Have a look on the wiki here where I've put the PSA recommended oils:
https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/Citro ... arbox_Oils
You have an EP6C engine, so follow down to the EP engine section and find your engine to see the viscosity and back at the top you can choose your climate from the diagram to choose the most appropriate one. Brand is of course down to wallet and preference - but there is plenty of info there to help you.

Ok. Question- On the wiki page it says "Read the engine legislative code on the vehicle identification plate consisting of the 3rd, 4th and 5th characters." So is this legislative code part of the VIN # or a different number altogether.GiveMeABreak wrote: 07 Sep 2020, 14:54 Have a look on the wiki here where I've put the PSA recommended oils:

Sorry if the question sounds stupid. I am a newbie. Thanks again.

Re: C3 petrol - Which engine oil to use?
I agree that can be confusing as it is referring to a specific code within the VIN. If you use the complete 17 alphanumeric VIN code, then it will actually be the 6th, 7th & 8th numbers / characters you need. So if you have an EP6C engine, the 6th, 7th & 8th sequence you are looking for will be: 5FS / 5FK / 5FL / 5FJ or 5FH.

Perfect. Now I can make sense. Thanks for clearing it up.GiveMeABreak wrote: 09 Sep 2020, 14:29 I agree that can be confusing as it is referring to a specific code within the VIN. I think I will give more importance to the viscosity requirements than the brand. Might go with a mid-priced brand. I am planning to change oil every 7500 Kms from here on.
Thanks again for your help, Marc. Really appreciate it.
PS: I will be posting a few more questions but that would be a separate thread.

Re: C3 petrol - Which engine oil to use?
Hey Marc... I read the Wiki... My Engine tye is EP6C... For it, the PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN norm is B71 2290. I found this oil and I am 99% sure it is compatible with my Engine:GiveMeABreak wrote: 09 Sep 2020, 14:29 I agree that can be confusing as it is referring to a specific code within the VIN. Will you be able to confirm if this compatible as the Website says it's not but they can be wrong as they fudge these things easily.
I have dropped them an email as well to confirm.
Thanks.

Re: C3 petrol - Which engine oil to use?
Yes, that is fine to use. It is fully synthetic and meets the emission control standards for PSA.
