Dashboard goes dark

Unread post by Chrismargon01 »

Hi there, just bought a Citroen C5 yesterday, so I guess I will be a frequent guest here from now, since it has its problem, Lets start with this..
Dashboard is dark! But when I use the turn signals it lights up for about 5 seconds, to go dark again... just touching the turn signal lever lightly makes the dashboard light up again...Guess there is some sort of "glitch" having to do with the turn signal lever?

Make sure you are not using the NIGHT Driving function which dims all lights until certain controls are operated, which temporarily lights them up fopr a few seconds and then they turn off again. It's called Black Panel Mode or Night Driving

On our old 2003 C5 the night driving control is one of the two buttons on either side of the radio. On my RHD car it was the LH button but that might be reversed for a LHD car.

Quoting from the English handbook:

Night Driving Control
A short press on the control will extinguish the displays and instrument panel with the exception of the vehicle speed indicator and any warning lamps that are active.

Note: The functions are automatically illuminated if:
- there are warning messages.
- one of the display controls is pressed.
- the radio is selected
- A press on one of the air conditioning controls.

Doesn't it reset when the car is restarted though - like the light settings.

No idea, I never used it. Nor do I use it on the X7.
