Good to hear that Jim, it's common sense to be sure others can identify you should the worst ever happen. For those that have not done it, put an entry in your phone's address book under ICE with contact information for whoever you'd like to contact in the event of an emergency. (Interesting to note that Internal Combustion Engine and In Case of Emergency have the same acronym so I'm not sure what EV drivers should doCitroJim wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 12:29
I also have full emergency information on my 'phone that can be easily accessed without needing the phone's PIN or fingerprint...

The only trouble Jim will get himself into is not stopping and keeping on running!!!mickthemaverick wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 11:46 As for the RunGo app, that sounds a great idea but as you are all running alone does that not present some safety risks for those that may get into trouble in the later stages?![]()
It won't be long before he enters the "Marathon Des Sables". Despite now being Superhuman, he will definitely need some kind of proper back up plan for that one when, not if, he does it...

That's already a standing joke in our local running and cycling community Roger... People reckon I can't properly drive my Garmin and end up getting lostRhothgar wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 17:36 The only trouble Jim will get himself into is not stopping and keeping on running!!!![]()
Funny you should say that Roger
But for Covid I was planning to do the Race to the Stones (RTTS) this year. That's a 100 mile ultra along the Ridgeway to the Avebury Stone Circle...
Ultra Marathons are very different to normal Marathons... Much walking, drinking, resting and eating is involved
Other things on my bucket list include a trek to Everest Base Camp, a bike ride up Mont Ventoux and a bike ride to the tip of Cap Formentor in Majorca.
I've completed all these as virtual activities and have the medal for one of them
I'd like to summit Everest or K2 but I know that will always be just a dream...

I watched the Dragon's back docu a couple of months ago and was surprised to see a friend in it, Neil Kirk. Ace time triallist. He spends his time now racing HPV's.CitroJim wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 18:01 Amazon Prime has two amazing documentaries on the Dragon's Back race... When you're ready for Majorca, let me know. Once I'm back to full fitness, I've said I want to do that.
You should come to Austria with me and ride Grossglockner. I was planning a training camp for Sept-Oct but it will now be next Sept.

Is that the lovely climb outside Innsbruck used for the Worlds a few years ago? If so, I've ridden it a few times on ZwiftRhothgar wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 18:10 You should come to Austria with me and ride Grossglockner. I was planning a training camp for Sept-Oct but it will now be next Sept.

It is close to Innsbruck but it isn't on Zwift. It's a little more than you're used to!CitroJim wrote: 05 Sep 2020, 18:13 Is that the lovely climb outside Innsbruck used for the Worlds a few years ago? If so, I've ridden it a few times on ZwiftIt's awesome and a worthy bucket list contender

From Fusch to Edelweissspitze, it's 13.5 miles.
It's 5725ft elevational gain...
A PROPER WORKOUT! I've never done it.

Re: Citrojim's Saxo and Cycling Tales
Enjoyed an absolutely awesome MK Marathon today
I took the run easy as there was lots of scenery to enjoy and friends to chat to
Happily I ended up a lot less broken after this one than the last... No blisters and I'm generally still a functional human being with an ability to walk more or less normally despite achy calves
I think this one picture of me speaks volumes about how much I loved it
And I got this awesome medal
Just a taster of the gorgeous parkland on the marathon course
Who'd think that's close to the city centre! In fact, for the vast majority of the route the marathon ran in parkland within the city borders... Only once did we run through a built-up area!
What a day

Re: Citrojim's Saxo and Cycling Tales
I smashed out my fastest 10 mile time trial of the season this morning.
Annoyingly, I had a 1.5 mile segment where I pushed 21W less than the average for the whole TT. Must try harder!
Still 2.5 minutes slower than last season's best performance.

Oh I'm some way off full fitness yet. Maybe by March next year I'll be back on form. Technically on paper you are fitter than me at the moment. I'm pretty sure of that. 60 min FTP currently only 2.7W/kg. I believe you're producing around 3W/kg?CitroJim wrote: 06 Sep 2020, 18:31 Fantastic cycling Roger![]()

When I really step on the gas Roger, yes
I'm sure you've all heard of the term 'runners high' and wondered what it is. Here it is illustrated by me yesterday at some point running the MK Marathon
They say running a marathon is like childbirth... It's painful and at the end you say 'I'm never doing that again'
Until a few hours afterwards and then you start planning your next one...
Next time I'm looking to do a 50Km Ultra marathon
