My pleasure Chris, and an excellent post. As I mentioned there are quite a few electric vehicles threads to contribute to or follow.

This was my charging buddy this evening, and had an enjoyable chat with the owner who was more than pleased with his purchase. He was virtually there on purchasing a BMW I3 but was messed about with delays, so plumped for the off the shelf Corsa. In his words "With BMW they wait for a decent batch of orders before they make them" :-D

c.morewood wrote: 14 Aug 2020, 14:13 I placed the order on the 10th February, the car was made on the 17th and I took delivery on the 17th March from Edinburgh, the nearest service center. I followed it most of the way, finding out its VIN about 2 weeks after the order and with that I was able to track the ship it was on from San Francisco to Zeebrugge and the to Southampton.
I like a bit of ship tracking, and a bit of a delve.....wonder what the ship was called? I also like the order on the 10th Feb-car was made on the 17th :!: Not sure our friends at BMW are so quick off the mark if the conversation I had with my charging buddy last night was accurate.

Wonder if this was the ship Chris.....the Glovis Captain! currently on the same route to Zeebrugge with a "belly full of cars".

Regards Neil

PS hope you dont mind I have referenced your post over on the thread "Energy Matters Global and Domestic" here on your Solar PV and Batteries set up at home, and your energy tariff.

Happy to remove it if you have any objections.

It was the Morning Cara Neil. There are about 8 ships at any one time carrying Teslas around the world. They appear to increase in intensity as the "quarter" comes to a close. apparently Tesla like to do things by quarters and like to have all cars sold, delivered by the end of the quarter.
The Glovis Captain is one of the regulars.
No, I don't mind at all Neil, spread the word about the new technology and help the world to a better future.

Thinking about adding a storage battery to my solar roof panel set up, came across this in my search.

You can't set fire to a saltwater battery..it just puts itself out.

So you fill two tanks , one with salt water the other with fresh water and the salt ions pass until equilibrium is reached :? does that mean you have to drain the the tanks and refill them when it gets to that?

I'm guessing that you pass the two waters over the membrane and then eject the equalised water as exhaust, maybe vapourised or something or possibly collect in a third tank which you pump out while refilling the other two for recycling? Hence possibly a three hose connector at the filling station which is really a processing plant that distils some of the waste to fresh water and then dissolves the precipitated salt back into the rest of the waste to provide reusable fresh and salt waters. Sounds simple enough :) :)

Does that mean the filling stations of the future will have pumps similar to todays - instead of ordinary unleaded and Super unleaded, you'll have salty water made up with Saxa salt, or Premium salty water made up with Maldon Sea Salt ?
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Interesting and Unusual Engines

Don't think the salt-water powered electric car is available to the masses just yet, apart from something like this for under £20! :-D
