Asdatyres is a 'front end' for Colewood Automotive, who also run RAC Tyres and Etyres and no doubt numerous others. Nothing wrong with that concept, or with the company, it's just that you won't be finding tyres filling up the aisles in Asda any time soon
I tend to buy my tyres loose and fit and balance them myself as I reckon we must have over 30 tyres on the fleet at home when you include the winter sets and the spares

I always buy mine for places like Oponeo, Camskill, or other decent aftermarket sellers as they have the choice I want and the best prices. These often have a fitting service if you want - from a list of participating indies where you live. SO I buy the tres I want at the best prices and then get them fitted and balanced locally. I always save buckets. I won't use Blackcircles or Tyreshopper now as these have been through so many owners including AA and the like as Bobins mentions - and everytime the change hands they shove the prices up.

I've also found they only provide a strictly limited set of brands. If you want more choice I can recommend Camskill

https://www.camskill.co.uk/#

and Oponeo

My ex-wife used to refuse to shop in Asda because she thought all their cooked meats tasted like rubber. Does this mean they have found a new use for ham? :-D

I can second that! During lockdown and for shielding reasons, so not going into shops, we've had to toggle between Asda and Tesco for Click & Collect now there are not home delivery slots available where we are. The plastic meat is the worst ever - fatty, chewy, plastic and so on. We have had significant refunds each time as even the birds threw it back.

I've found that Sainsbury's have found a way to manufacture something to rival the thin-ness of Graphene. If their own brand bacon gets any thinner then you'll be able to see straight through it. Tesco's aren't much better - they've found a way to get a pint of brine into each rasher :rofl2:

Don't get me started on the bacon! 4 rashers go in - and a tray of water out - seen more meat on a budgie's pecker. Got the last lot from Farm Foods (3 large packs of back bacon for about £6) and that actually came out the same as it went in! Somebody get us back onto tyres quickly as once I start.....

You asked for this Marc!!

I went into Kwik Fit and asked "How kwik can you fit 2 Michelins for me?"

"Michelins 45 mins or Hankooks Half Hour!"

:-D

I have bought tyres from Camskill and latterly Oponeo fro a few years now as I like Sailun tyres and they both supply them. They are stupid cheap but that is not why I buy them, they are very quiet, stick well and never need balancing. My local mechanic fits them for next to nothing.

As far as meat is concerned, it has been consistently fine from my local shops but limited amounts and relatively expensive. Aldi and Lidl are my preferred sources, not that I have much choice as Asda and Sainsburys are inaccessible to me.
Farmfoods are also an excellent resource. Bought bacon there a couple of weeks ago but it remains in the freezer for now.

I've used Tyres on the Drive, it used to be independent but linked to by Halfords, Halfords have now taken it in-house.

Got a good deal from them with tyres for the C5, fitted, balanced and switched around on the car as needed.

On the bacon subject I was reading on the Birmingham history forum of a case back in the 1890s where a butcher was prosecuted for adding water to his meat to make weight, I wonder what happened to that law.

Tesco had for a time sliced meats labelled 'No added water' cost a little extra, that seems to have disappeared from the shelves now.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

I found the Asda tyre site very useful. I was looking for tyres for the C5 and they have many listed with their specs. I want something that gives a quiet and comfortable ride and found some with 68db noise level but still reasonable road holding and wear for a very reasonable price, and there is a local garage on their list of fitters.

'Water' is added both for curing purposes and to keep the slicing blades cool in the factory. It's debatable whether they need to add quite so much fluid though. Dry cured bacon is the way to go, if you can get it. Our local butcher does some wonderful dry cure that shatters like glass when you fry it up properly. :-D

Aldi/Lidl have it and it is excellent.
