Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Its well worth it Mick. What prompted me to have it was that I was borderline for driving. My wife had hers done a few years ago and the morning after she was going into raptures over a picture we had on the wall which she had never appreciated before. Unfortunately mine didn't go quite as well as I couldnt see properly for three days but this morning was amazing.

Excellent Peter, must be a great joy for you, and thanks for the nipping across the field! Thats what I call a real world effect of our little meanderings on here!
I think you will have the tallest aerials of anyone on the FCF, I take it has something to do with your Radio activities rather than trying to get a decent TV picture
Regards Neil

Yes, the tallest one is a 2 metre amateur band antenna which would normally have a range of about 25 miles, but as we are 500 asl and have about a 15 mile clear view to the east I can work into hampshire and east Sussex, spoke to someone in Belgium a couple of days ago but conditions were exceptionally good.

Settled on a new picnic spot today, on the one side you have a high vantage point over the River, on the other wheatfields leading down to the coast,

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Is that shape possibly one of these. If so could be this, Providing of course the flight path from Amsterdam to Boston would take it over the Northumberland Coast

A visitor to our birthday party in Elstree this evening, light was very low so focus is poor I'm afraid:

I spent an hour or so last night in the back garden spotting satellites and shooting stars. No pictures, obvs ! A tally of about 5 shooting stars and 20+ satellites.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Thick cloud here, much as usual
There were loads the previous couple of nights, all obscured by cloud.
Self seeded Morning Glory, nothing like the originals.
Nor are these more prolific ones.
Oddly the darker ones are purple but photograph blue - IR fluorescence in the petals.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Day time sky gazing for me yesterday.

Now that is just a random aircraft flying very high above our picnic stop near Alnmouth. Curiosity had me wondering where it was coming from and where it was going to. I guessed somewhere like Amsterdam over to USA/Canada.
Well had I discovered this site immediately when I got home I think I could have said definitely what it was.

This shows some of this mornings flights

So my best bet for that flight remains Amsterdam to Boston, which left Amsterdam at 4.50 yesterday afternoon.Amsterdam to Edinburgh cut the coast too far South then went on a tour of outer Northimberland and approached Edinburgh Airport form the West
Amsterdam to Inverness Cut the coast too far North round about Eyemouth North of Berwick
Amsterdam to Dallas Cut the Northumberland Coast Not far off Alnmouth, about 20 Miles Further South round about Blyth.

Loads of small, private planes yesterday around Teesside airport - a couple of miles from daughter's house. Failed to get any snaps
Used to go there when it was RAF for the annual airshow. Brilliant.

I have been using Flightradar24 for a long time, we even check our own flights on there, it is very useful!!NewcastleFalcon wrote: 09 Aug 2020, 10:12
