I've always had 4.5 tog since I moved in and sometimes I find that too hot! We have very efficient insulation throughout and my bedroom remains at 19-20C all year round so no need for anything heavier!! :-D

In the current conditions I have found an air cooler helps. It is a small (6" per side) cubic box with a fan, a water tank, a trough and an evaporator frame. Drops the temperature by a few degrees C, but sometimes that is all you need to go from uncomfortable to tolerable.

I've seen the adverts for those James and considered one, although my silent room fan sending a very light breeze over my face does make it comfortable up to the high 20's. Any hotter than that I stay downstairs under the ceiling fan and usually fall asleep with the TV on ! :-D

I got one a couple of years ago and never regretted it. Last year B&M had Blaupunkt units at £20, and I bought six (and gave them away as presents). Mum received one, and (although it takes up valuable space on her boat during winter) said that it helped her survive through the very hot days last year and this year. Several days ago it was very hot, and it made her feel very unwell; the air cooler kept it from getting serious.

If I fill the tank and run it at it's lowest fan speed it will keep the air cool overnight (easily several hours). The only downside is I have to cover the top, as the bright blue power light would keep me awake. While it does have mood lighting I can turn that off.

I thought it was time to give my legs and lungs a work out so I took a stroll round the village, took my camera and got photos of some of the new builds that have popped up in recent months/years.

Also my neighbours Honda which I took a liking to when she first got it as a company car, she kept it when the hire ran out.

A Ford that I've not seen in the village before and a couple of Minis that have graced the same pile for years.

That mini in the first photo could do with a bit of a polish.

Not a picture but a video I found interesting, especially if you like aircraft:

Time to celebrate my 3200th post, again I can choose a car I owned and thoroughly enjoyed a few years ago. Sitting in it was such a very nice place to be:

Those are far nicer than the current 'S', 'X' and XF ones.

Blank Canvas day on POTD....anything goes...take your cameras on your drives and walks.

Surely this is a day for a bit of old fashioned "motoring for pleasure"

"Riding along in my automobile.....
.....Crusin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go"

I have found one of my lost memory sticks and with it some pictures which are worth sharing. So a couple of years ago in late May I went down to the lake with my rods and met this charming family, quite rare to see such a large family of coots I'm told:

In response to Neils plea, I just nipped across into the field and took a picture of the house. I had a cataract op on Wednesday and am now enjoying colour and detail that I don't remember seeing before. 8-) Literaly, and I'm fully legal to drive now.

That's good to hear Peter, I think I'll be following your lead in a year or two. I was beginning to notice a loss of contrast at distance on the way to the Isle of Wight the other day. I found it quite difficult to see other aircraft against the cloud back drop whereas Bob was fully able to spot them long before me, admittedly he was wearing polaroids but I thought I should have seen more than I did!
