C5 -X7 Rear Park Audio Adjustment

Post by PeeBee »

Hello All,
I have searched the forum without success to try and establish if it is possible to increase the audio volume from the rear Parking sensor. The sensors on my C5 all work OK as does the visual display but the audio is so low that I can hardly hear it. I wonder if it is possible to adjust the volume output ?.

According to info I have, the volume is configurable with a diagnostic tool, but I have been unable to locate a setting in the BSI nor the RT4 ECUs, not hte Parking assistance ECU to do this.....

On the 308, it is possible to set the beeps to come from the sound system (normal setting) or from a sounder somewhere near the steering wheel (presumably for vehicles without a sound system?). It is alos possible to turn both on, but thiss is a little disconcerting as the beeps have a different time delay.

Is there a setting in the audio head unit configuration for the beep volume?

No, I've already checked all the tables and he has an RT4. The independent sound module near the steering wheel is only used for vehicles with no audio system.

If there is an option, it's not in the RT4 Head Unit or BSI configuration parameters that I have for the X7.

Could it be configured with Mira scripts?

Or could you adjust the sound level with the volume controls while the beeping is on? Much like adjusting the sound of the build in navigation works on my C6???

Easily tested by driving up close to something until the continious beep is heard. And then up the volume with the stereo controls.

The previous owner (My Daughter) indicates that from memory she altered the audio in exactly the way you describe because it was too loud. However I have tried adjusting the audio by inching up to the garage door and while the audio alarm is sounding I have tried increasing it on the steering wheel but without success.

I found a post http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum ... php?190158 which indicates that the volume may be adjusted in the radio head unit configuration, but it is not clear which audio system that is for.

That's for the 'Autoradio' unit or RD* radios.

There is nothing at all listed in the configuration parameter files I have for this setting in any of the Head Units, so it is either undocumented (unusual) and may need to be found manually or not there....

I appreciate some folk do not like using MiraScript but in this case If you have the big screen sat Nav Rt4 the Park sensor volume can be changed within the head unit using MiraScript under the “RTxSET.CMD” command. Under the sub-set

“view/modify AUDIO Section”.

Where options are

“Ampli present” 0 or1:amplifier present
“Front beep” 1 or 4or7 level for front park assist beep
“Rear beep” 1 or 4 or 7 for rear park assist beep

You can pre scroll through to see the current settings. If they are at 7 they are at max volume but otherwise you can turn them up.

Note if the first “Ampli present” is set to 1 and you do not have an amplifier the volume is reduced so this could be your problem. If this is 1 check carefully that you do not have a separate amplifier as the option 1 assumes an amplifier. If you change this to 0 but have an amplifier you run the risk of overloading and damaging the system.

Whilst again, I know some folk do not like using MiraScripts, for those without a Lexia they can be helpful. I have successfully activated the AUX 3.5mm “audio in” and added an external Bluetooth using MiraScripts. Also turned on DRLs, the external temp gauge (not sure why it had been turned off by the past owner) and the “video in” fto run videos on the display.(when parked) Ie to use those nice rca sockets in the glove box. (There is also the option to add a rear view camera which activates when selecting reverse (if you have the large Sat nav screen) but that one I’ve not tried yet.

MiraScripts are not too bad to use but take care if you do ie keep the engine running etc. As you would do on map updates etc.as a mistake can brick the head unit and stop everything it does!!

Reverse camera function won't work on these. It's an option for RT6 only - and then only for the RT6 version with the correct hardware that supports it.
