I have posted recently a couple of "just missed" pictures of a barn owl and a kingfisher, but tonight a little expedition back to the quarry was totally rewarded with a couple of young barn owls in a tree on the edge of the quarry.

They were pretty close and I managed to take a four minute video of them with my little digital camera. Quality not great, but immaterial. Seeing them was the magic.

Mine was a '56 Cresta. My first diesel conversion, fitted a Perkins 4/99 engine complete kit in 1959. Brilliant fuel consumption dreadful performance.

I had a Irish guy ask me if I could sell his Cherokee Grand Chief for him from my forecourt, I said ok bring it up.

A couple of days later I heard what I thought was a diesel tractor coming up the street then saw it was the Cherokee.

He'd taken the fine six cylinder petrol engine out and replaced it with a second hand Ford four cylinder diesel engine out of a JCB.
They were like that in those days, although the first British commercially produced diesel the Standard Vanguard used a ferguson tractor engine and that sounded quite nice.

Driving the Cresta along the road, as I approached a bus stop the people would all move toward the kirb.

I listed these chairs on ebay today at 5.45pm on a ten day auction with best offer start price £0.99. I had two offers within an hour, one of £50 and one of £125.00 I counter offered the second one and we agreed on £175 and he is collecting tomorrow!! That is what I call a result !!! Pity they belonged to my Elstree friend as I don't have the cash to celebrate with! :-D

A Campanula rotundifolia, closely followed by what looks like a Coprinus comatus - edible, but you've got to be quick as they don't last long at all :)

Quality stuff Bobins without looking them up I would have said a Harebell and a Shaggy Ink Cap is that what the commoners call them? The other thing I posted up the other day was bell heather.

Yes that was the from very first post on POTD, and today another unusual horse sighting.
The horses wearing coats with striped patterns experienced fewer horse fly landings compared to when they wore single-color coats. The research could make 'zebra coats' common for horses,
Well today for the first time I spotted some horses with "Zebra Coats" on in the heat of Summer.
