Keep going down the Thames  or keep going with Blackfriars ? If it is Blackfriars, then it's probably something like a 'buttressed station' :-k

Are we ready to start a bit of Quizzing again after the trauma of Steve's Coffee Set?

Anyone got a little puzzle for us to work out :?:

Still on top of the head ferreting is there a Royal connection perhaps...one that Network Rail dont have responsibility for maintaining. Maybe known in Railway Parlance as the Queens Bridge"

Is it a notable bridge we will have heard of?

It most definitely is notable. I may be accused of being a pedant.

OK, Bobins got half of the answer. It IS The Forth Bridge, but it is simply known as "The Bridge" (according to Michael Portillo and Great British Railway Journeys). All other bridges are numbered (although they may be spoken about by their name).

Yes I think Bobins has nailed it but has failed to decribe it as the Forth Rail Bridge and its number on the Network Rail spreadsheets is Engineers Line Reference (ECN2) FORTH BRIDGE Then Again the Tay Bridge is similarly referenced by Engineers Line Reference (ECN2) TAY BRIDGE rather than a number.

A different subject for a question:
My late grandfather used to work for Customs & Excise in London. He used to refer to 'The Queen's Pipe'. It's fairly easy to look up, but top of head - what's 'The Queen's Pipe' ?

...Here's the extract from the spreadsheet of Network Rail Maintained Bridges.

Only 2 without "bridge Numbers" Tay Bridge and Forth Bridge.

That would be this one from Network Rails list:

CNH3 181.0231 0.0000 12 SALTNEY Bridge Underline Bridge NO LATERAL POSITION
NO TRACK ID London North Western Central West NO MAJ STRUCT FLG Functionary Network Rail (CE-Struct) NO SECONDARY ELR 0.0000 3978559DBEC245D9E04400306E4AD01A 193989 1 NO PARENT ELEMENT ID NO ROUTE TYPE N NO STRUCT POLICY REF FLG RBE - Brick NO SECONDARY MATERIAL NO STRUCTURAL FORM
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
