Citroen C5 X7 Bleed brake

Hello all

I recently bought a C5 II 2.0 16V (reg 58) as a motorway comuter, and I would like to give it a nice service. I read some things about the brake bleeding, but I am a bit confused:
- Should you have the engine running while bleeding ?
- Do you have to bleed the clutch slave cylinder ?
- Any other thing I need to know ?

If you are referring to a C5 (X7) - which a 58 plate should be, then normal brake bleeding procedures apply but Citroen are specific that the ignition should be off during this procedure. If you want to do a proper brake bleed however, then you need a Lexia/Diagbox (or other very good diagnostics kit) to 'open up' the ABS block to bleed that through properly once you've done the main brake bleed.

Thanks bobins ! Yes, it is an X7. I saw a video to bleed a 407, and i wrongly assumed it is the same electronic...

- Is the order like the 407 and C5 1 then: Front left, front right, rear left, rear right?
- No cluth to bleed ? It is not on the same reservoir ?

Although the clutch may share the reservoir, as long as you don't drain it the clutch won't need touching.

You may find that the bleed order is the rears first, then the front. The idea being to clear the longest runs first.

Normal brake bleeding operation would be to start with the bleed nipple furthest away from the brake fluid reservoir and work towards the one closest.
Unless you've actually got issues with your clutch hydraulic system, I wouldn't bother with bleeding it as it's not quite as simple as it could be Various different systems were fitted and some of them seem more trouble than they are worth to bleed.

Thanks a lot guys ! All make sense and it is how I use to do it, but seeing videos and procedures for Peugeot 407 and C5 I were you start from front made me doubt... I should have remember that French like to re-invent the wheel at every car (I am French )
