It was a very pleasant day out especially as after leaving Aldbury I went on to two more beauty spots, the first of which I have posted on POTD. The second was quite entertaining because I ran into a motorcyle group on a rideout and we shared a few stories over a swift coffee and cake. I was particularly interested in the Africa Twin one of the chaps was riding as from pictures I had always thought of it as a very tall bike. It is!! He let me have a sit and there was no way I could get both feet comfortably on the floor so I'm glad I don't ride very much at all now as I would have wanted one and been disappointed!! :-D

Anyone know where this marvellous piece of brutalist concrete is? Havent tried myself yet. Plenty location clues I would have thought. He peers over the edge of the top deck and sees the railway tracks...

The track configuration is correct for the Euston to Watford line between Stonebridge Park and Watford if we are looking South, or between Stonebridge Park and Queens Park if we are looking North. However I don't recall that car park along there. :?: :)

The episode was first shown on 5th April 1970....lost from the BBC Archives but it was a joint production with a German TV company and the German version dubbed in German is here

The full car park scene starts at 1:40 ish

Dont know where it is myself so I'll be playing along too.

What would require a car park of that size ? It's not something that'd be built out in the sticks. It's going to be either near a big station, shopping centre, hospital, or other large gathering place.

I was wondering if it could be an airport car park, maybe Gatwick?

Not Gatwick I'm afraid. Wherever it is, it has an Underground line running past it.

It doesn't have to be an underground line, just a third rail system as used by some of London Overground eg Euston to Watford, and some of southern region as it was out of Waterloo and Victoria. Back when it was filmed there was a huge multi storey for Olympia and/or Earls Court, can't remember exactly. However as the line also has overhead electric then I don't think Southern had much in 1970. The Euston to Tring O/H electrification was opened in 1966/7 so was in existence. However it is a TV show so they could edit different locations together anyway!! :-D

Anyone got a decent picture of Peckham Multi Storey from the late 60's?

The picture shows a 4 rail system (LU), and add in the catenary, I think it likely to be anything but 'sarf of the river'.

It looks quite different today becasuse rather than being demolished it has been put to alternative uses. The railway does run right next to it.. I reckon its a good candidate. Well maybe not on reflection but it does have a railway line next to it...closest I have seen so far!

My offering - a 1999 shot from Googl'erf. Middle of the picture 'Zenn Interiors'. There's the block of flats not far away. Just need to track down the church shown in the shot.
