Nearly got there, but Harold Wilson was the stumbling block...google search is getting worse couldnt find a single picture of Billy Connoly with Harold Wilson! It was even worse at finding female celebrities with large glasses. As it says in the book "all other photos are from the authors personal collection!"

Perhaps it's time to join the revolution DDG forever!! :-D

At least it passed the time and I'm glad I left out Judi Dench because that would have been a lot easier for g****e to find! :-D

Yes well done Mick, good quiz, and well done Bobins, particularly for the breakthrough recognising the key lady to the rest of the puzzle.

Yes if I had wanted to buy a pair of ladies designer glasses google is the search engine of choice. It seems to take whatever you have put in the search field, and then search its own catalogue for things they think you might want to buy!!

This picture caught my eye. The full pic from which I worked the answer out to the following Pickled Egg Quiz question can be found in the links here:-

There is an interesting article to peruse should you so wish, and other nice pictures but the article in itself is no help to the location.

So this is the cropped version,

Down to a standard 50....I've dug out the full pic without you having to do a bit of clicking on a link.

There is enough information in this picture to get the location even if you havent a clue where it is. Just requires a query on the little snippets of information that are in the picture.

My guess for the former inhabitant would be Craven Walker - inventor of the Lava Lamp, still made in the Uk at Poole by https://www.mathmos.com/

That is indeed the correct answer. Well done Bobins. I take it you used the Bournemouth and District Outdoor Club as the key :-D

Couple of funny little links there. Hope FCF Members will ceremoniously get their lava lamps out and put them on POTD. BDOC is no more and North Lodge 190 Hurn Road Matchams is now a shade of pale yellow.

Nope ! I read the address above it :-D I've been known to decipher virtually undecipherable text on signs on old photos before. My 'skill' has been used by a few friends when doing research projects - the benefit being that, even if I'm wrong, they can't prove otherwise

..And to complete the exercise the Original Lava Lamp gets the star billing on POTD.

On Street View I think the only thing that I picked out were the "Rock and Rollers" Sculpture in the water! This is a better pic from the "Cresta" days.

It is virtually impossible to reproduce this picture today. The picture here is taken to the right of the camera position in the above shot, you can just see the top of the fountain, but the following ones show what is there now from the Leighton Buzzard road. i could not get nearer the original location because of the radical changes. You can just see the high level footbridge which is all that remains of the original building link!:

Quality stuff Mick. I wonder if Debenhams adopted the curve as an Homage to the former car park. Strangely I much prefer the old look of the place.

..and the delve into village duckpond and half-timbered houses territory chalk and cheese with the modern day pics from Hemel Hempstead, sounds like a nice day out in the Chilterns!
