Well Suffolk has had a few mentions lately Adnams Brewery at Southwold, St Peters Brewery (St. Peter’s Hall, St. Peter South Elmham, Bungay,) and The Soper Collection hoped to have a permanent gallery to exhibit the Soper Collection near Lavenham in Suffolk. Alan Eckford the WWII Battle of Britain Pilot and Designer of the Amphibious Caravan also mentioned on the FCF recently, lived at Ricklinghall Suffolk in later life. :rofl2:

And About Britain from Avengerland tells us that in the Champions episode The Final Countdown (January 1968)
Sharron Macready and Richard Barrett go to an pub to interview the landlord about the German plane he shot down in the last days of the war in Kersey Suffolk.

So the task that lies ahead is find that pub!

Well a couple of little fascinating discoveries about Kersey before We even get to the Pub!

It has a "famous" watersplash, but also a TR7 Convertible in the geograph pic!

Excellent work Bobins the pub on the left is the Bell, the only one in Kersey. Another charming feature of Kersey is the road Junction sign by the house at Church Hill. Lovely "rowntrees fruit gums" old sign. I do believe the other side has a more modern reproduction of the old sign for a school. The burning torch of knowledge :-D

So we have ended up in Suffolk at Kersey. Well the FCF knows a lot about Norfolk, seeing as there is a dedicated thread for such matters so maybe we go left a bit and see what Cambridgeshire has to offer.

Well we can stick with the Champions as a link and guess what caught my eye from this little piece
THE CHAMPIONS: The Ghost Plane (John Gilling: Autumn 1967)
Sharron and Craig (Stuart Damon) go to interview Dr. John Newman at Cambridge University (Kings College and Clare College). Later Newman's secretary, Vanessa (Hilary Tindall) leaves Clare College and walks to her car parked on Trinity Lane. As she drives off and is followed by Sharron's in her Mercedes. Craig leaves Clare and he is surprised to find the car gone. As Stuart walks down Bridge Street he gets a psychic message to telephone Richard. He runs across the road from St. John's College to use the telephone box. After being told that Sharron is in danger he persuades a passing motorist to give him a lift in a Volkswagen.
Yes Hillary Tindall......lets find out what car she was driving which she had parked on Trinity Lane.

First back with a picture of Hillary gets a virtual beer of their choice! :-D

That is the first MK1 Cortina I have ever seen with a Mercedes badge on the boot! :-D
Now that the chain has reached the dizzy heights of Cambridge I feel an intellectual link is called for. However 2 pints of Doombar prevent me from delving into the depths of Caius or similar so I think I'll leave that for someone else or another day!! :-D

From the rich vein of Brutalist Architecture we can take a short trip to Gateshead out of academic interest. Jack Carter was certainly reasonably brutal with Alf Roberts from Coronation Street from the iconic brutalist car park.

I have a directish link to this formerly known as the trinity square car park, from Hillary and her Mki Cortina on Trinity Lane.

Used to park there quite frequently. Not the most pleasant place but handy.

The early Cortinas and Capris were IMO far better then their successors.

I have a vague memory of the cafe. I think it was to satisfy the kid's curiosity.

Neil, I need a clue about your Hilary Tindall - Gateshead link, read loads about the car park and its architects, Hilary's life story, Roy Brown, Cortina designer's life story and history of Trinity College back to Henry VIII and I have not spotted a link so a pointer would be helpful. :)
