The Daily Newspaper
Spoiler: show
The Guardian interesting to know how you got to the guardian, I suspect you are looking too deep, however to avoid dragging on the paper was The Mirror because all the original pictures are horizontally flipped and would therefore look correct in a mirror :-D !
The Odd One Out
Spoiler: show
Tricky....Holyrood House is the Palace of Holyrood House so all are described as "Palaces"
So perhaps St James Palace, residence of Minor Royals not heads of state. Now the odd one out was Holyrood, not being a British Royal Family residence. I daresay you can make a case for any of them here so not too concerned :)
The Link with the war memorial picture
Spoiler: show
Is the link to the odd one out, or to all six "gates" in General? Still a blank on that. The link is using "gates".

Responses inside the spoilers, I hope that helps. :)

I think I'm drawing a blank on a track link to peter's van too for the PE jukebox, if you can lob one up save my brainwork!

Spookily my first link question was going to be "How are the pictures linked to Ipswich?" but I thought that was not even a half spanner so I went for the double spanner instead! :-D

TOH
Spoiler: show
Possibly that the 84000 class operated out of Euston Station and The Sweeney was made by Euston Films?

Down want to make it too complicated but the link does lie connected to the location of the depot mentioned in the photograph.

That episode "Sweeney on the Run" is on Daily Motion.....just out of curiousity I wondered what Jan Harvey's role was....not very challenging a couple of very brief appearances as a bit of romantic interest for Jack. Waste of her talents.

I've run out of time now, discoveries so far - POTD at Longsight in Manchester. Leading criminal in The Sweeney S3 E13 On the Run played by George Sweeney (Neat!) who came from Welwyn Garden City (4 miles from me!). The episode is due to be screened at 12.10 on Thursday 25th June on ITV4 Not found the title of the music so theory is that may be the connection with Longsight!! :-D

I think wikipedia is your friend Mick, quite a simple connection between Longsight and The Sweeney.
