What's this?

Post by Gibbo2286 »

Ok I know it's a TFT screen but what is it off? It was in the boot of the C5 when I got it first and has sat on my shelf ever since.

So what does it connect to and how can I test it to see if it's any use or just bin fodder?

I would suggest that was used as a reversing camera monitor in the car. My Mk1 has sockets in front of the fuse box that you can connect a unit to. I would expect the black plug to be connected to power supply and the yellow possibly a composite video input so you can use the monitor with maybe a dvd player too. obviuosly there are other options but that is my first stab at it!! :-D You could try plugging the video plug into a video out socket on your tv box/VCR/DVR for example and supplying 12v from a battery as a test. In case it explodes I have to say you do so at your own risk!! :-D

The yellow is almost certainly video as that is a "standard" colour identification. I'd like to see a better photo of the other plug to be sure but a power supply as Mick says is quite probable.

Mick's suggestion that it's for a reversing camera is quite likely.
