Peugeot 308 key programming with Diagbox

Post by xbond »

I tried to program a new keyless fob on my Peugeot 308 T8 with Diagbox.

I followed the procedure which suggested I start programming the old working key first, and then the new key.

Unfortunately, the programming of the old key appear to have failed with Diagbox giving the following error: "Incorrect hands free remote control number or hands free remote control identifier not valid"

The old key is no longer recognised by the BSI, neither is the new one.

Any suggestion as to how to resolve this please?

1) Did you have the correct confidential customer code? You need this before you can programme the fobs.
2) When programming, both fobs need to be paired in the same session - any not done so will be locked out.
3) You should be able to repeat the process until it is working.
4) What software version of Diagbox are you running?

Where did you get the new key from? is it a copy or genuine Pug?
First I would re try the procedure but just try reprograming the original key on its own to see if it will let you reinstate it.
If you input the wrong confidential code diagbox would normally alert you to this & not let you go any further.

Thanks for the responses.

@givemeabreak:
1) Did you have the correct confidential customer code? You need this before you can programme the fobs. --> Yes the code is accepted by Diagbox as being correct.
2) When programming, both fobs need to be paired in the same session - any not done so will be locked out. --> That's how i tried originally.
3) You should be able to repeat the process until it is working. --> I have now tried many times with the same result.
4) What software version of Diagbox are you running? --> I started with v7.57 and tried several others up to v8.55, same results. Additionally on v8.55, Diagbox can't read the VIN automatically.

@wheeler:
Where did you get the new key from? is it a copy or genuine Pug? --> Ebay (copy I assume)
First I would re try the procedure but just try reprograming the original key on its own to see if it will let you reinstate it. --> I tried this and still the same error.

Although it should not affect key coding, you do realise that Diagbox versions 7.65 and over start gradually removing more and more manual telecoding functionality?

What year is your 308? A VIN might also help.

But if you got a fob from ebay I would not be at all surprised if it does not code properly or is not compatible or the correct type for your vehicle.

What year is your 308? A VIN might also help. --> 2014 - VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

But if you got a fob from ebay I would not be at all surprised if it does not code properly or is not compatible or the correct type for your vehicle. --> Agreed. Although the main problem now is that the original fob is no longer being recognised.

Ok, so you have a 308 (T9) not a T8.

Next, are you aware that there is an outstanding after sales campaign being flagged up? If not, I suggest you give your Peugeot dealer a call - any work should be free.

Back to the fob. If pairing the keys has failed, it should leave the original programming as it is - but I can't be certain.

So first of all try synchronising the original hands free fob:
  • Place the hands-free remote control in the electronic key reader
  • Switch on the ignition by pressing the engine starting switch
  • Remove the hands-free remote control from the electronic key reader
  • The hands-free remote control should be fully operational again
I assume you have retried the programming operation with the original fob only and it has not completed? If so is the message the same?

Next I would double check you are entering the correct code - there are several associated with the vehicle and it has to be the correct one.

So first of all try synchronising the original hands free fob:
  • Place the hands-free remote control in the electronic key reader
  • Switch on the ignition by pressing the engine starting switch --> At that stage, I get a 'key not recognised' error on the dashboard.
  • Remove the hands-free remote control from the electronic key reader
  • The hands-free remote control should be fully operational again
I assume you have retried the programming operation with the original fob only and it has not completed? If so is the message the same? --> Yes I have tried this and get the same error.

Next I would double check you are entering the correct code - there are several associated with the vehicle and it has to be the correct one. --> I am using **** which Diagbox seems to accept as valid.
Thanks for the continued help! :-)

The only thing I can suggest now is that you try and get some live data from Diagbox - run a global test if you can and see what, if any errors are presenting - post any error codes here.

Are you 100% certain its the correct confidential immobiliser code for the vehicle?

Have you checked the reader module hasnt detached from the back of the emergency keyfob recepticable under the rubber mat - when i had the gear stick surround trim removed on my keyless equipped 308 T9 during a modification the reader module unclipped itself from the back of the emergencey keyfob recepticable housing - easily clipped back on.

I wonder if this operation requires an online Diagbox session via a token to program keyless fobs to the car?
