The new names will be selected based on relevance to the LNER route and the communities served by the new Azuma fleet, and will be decided by a selection panel compromising of representatives from LNER communities, the rail industry and colleagues.

Any suggestions for names :?:

Good effort Mick, No I'm sure Jonny Wilkinson would be thrilled with Number 9.

I wonder what criteria they will use to "rule" out things. I think they will probably steer clear of football, politics, religion. Those trains can be named front and back as in the the GWR Rememberance Train, so LNER could have Bobby Charlton at the front and Jackie Charlton at the brothers from Ashington playing in and winning the World Cup in 1966. I think something like "Water of Tyne" for the Newcastle bit could be a decent enough name. Evocative of an arrival by train at Newcastle. You cross the water, see the bridges, and hear the Get Carter theme slowing as you approach the station, and for some of us arrive home!

Paying tribute to Bobins has allowed me to bring up my 2500th post without missing it, as I have the last few centuries, and for me the car which epitomises 2500 has to be the car from which my beloved Stag was derived. I'm sure everyone already knows that story so I won't bother with it here, just the pictures:

If you fancy a giggle put on this video, turn on subtitles by clicking on text icon and then select auto translate in settings. I cracked up!!
