If you happen to be shopping around for an electric car, and have stumbled across this thread and done a bit of back-of-a-tab-packet maths as discussed in the early pages, remember this...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this afternoon my humble shiny-eared 65-reg Nissan Leaf was just about the most beautiful car under the sun this afternoon in Northumberland.

Not sure you're keeping with the social distancing there, Neil. If I zoom right in I can just about make someone out on the hill on the horizon just above the car.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

That is a "parked-up" mobility scooter on the brow of the hill. The old chap was about 100 yards away from it with his border collie doing something with a spade.....didn't ask!

Out and about and required a top up charge on the way home, but find two NCC rapidchargers switched off on the bounce. Another one has the car park access roped off so no access there either, and no doubt also switched off. Until I find out different, I will assume they have all been turned off to save getting stranded.

Had to use one of the 7kW posts rather than a rapid charger, to top up enough to get back comfortably. Still charging up to a max of 80% and managing ok but may have to to the odd 100% charge when doing longer journeys if NCC's rapid chargers which are conveniently located through the County continue to be inaccessible.

Still havent paid for a single charge since last November when we went down to West Yorkshire.

I was pleased when charging up the car today and mooching around photographing the bike that a young chap from Morrisons on his break started chatting to me about the Leaf. He asked me if it was silent or made a noise when it was starting off. Well truth be told it has a button which you can presumably turn the "noise" on and off, but it has no discernable effect in the off or on position although a light does come on when it is supposedly disabled. Either the noise is only audible to dogs, or I have been listening to too much Robin Trower because I cant hear it. Maybe the previous owner had it disabled, but I cant detect when driving any specific slow speed noise either when going forward or reversing.

I briefly took hime through my tab packet calculations, and the experience so far of pretty much 100% free charging over the nearly 7 months since I got it.

One of the go to NCC chargers is back in action now at Northumberlandia. Car park was wedged with cars earlier in the day, but emptyish later in the day. Chademo charger still free at the moment.

21% charge 22 Miles on the Guessometer
21% charge 22 Miles on the Guessometer
Out in the wilds today, and for just that hint of danger, with no charging points and many hills to go up and down left myself with a mere 32 miles to do 25 home. The guessometer has some kind of algorithm in it, and can be all over the place depending on how you drive the car. So my driving was eco-max on the way back, eeking the max out of regeneration down the hills and light touch power use for the rest of the drive. Got back with the optimum miles/charge in hand as it turned out.
