A definite stop off place after Norham is the Chainbridge Honey Farm coffe and cakes in a old Bristol Lodekker and nice domestic/motoring/ barn of artefacts to have a browse round.

I'd like to finish off at the Chandlery Coffee shop on the quayside, and a pre-train meal in the Leaping Salmom up on the Bridge. in Berwick

Ford Castle opposite out Coffee stop is one of those places where schoolchildren go an experience one of those "stay-away field trips". Must be quite exciting for them staying in a real Castle!

So my question 2 doesnt require any general knowledge just your own specific knowledge and there are no right answers and no wrong answers.

Now accept my apologies Mick, I have spotted a TV in the Old Dairy so I am just going to give in to my current customary Ashes to Ashes obsession for a while If you and Bob just head to Flodden and have a good look around from the Information Centre in the Telephone Box in Branxton to the Church to parking up and walking up to the monument at the top of the hill. Have a snooze or drink in the landscape for a while and I'll whizz up to join you later

I have just arrived in Ford with Bob as my escort. It really is a classic little dairy although there is a calf squealing in the paddock, I think she has her tail caught in a gate. They have all sorts of badges here with all the signs of the Zodiac, I'll get a scorpio for SWMBO and the light, zephyr like wind is gently rippling through our hair having already removed my cap. Right next to the barn is a beautiful old icon, sullen though powerful in nature it makes you focus straight on it. A chap is admonishing an elderly lady by the door although I shamedly admit that I used to abuse my gran Ada. Apparently he used to be a sailor but he has calmed down a lot since his sea era. My God, or Mon Dieu (as close as I could get ) as the French would say, have you seen the size of that scone?

Well At the old Dairy Went for Pigrims Coffee Again and a toasted teacake with butter and not Jam but Marmalade of Course

After all Lynne has just come back in Triumph from the World’s Original Marmalade Awards at Dalemain in Cumbria, winning a gold for her Seville Orange and Tomato marmalade. Had to try it...absolutely gorgeous.



Off to Flodden to Catch up with Mick and Bob shouldnt take too long. Going to use the electric assistance.

Crikey that was quick! At the telephone Box at Branxton already.

On the back of it appearing in Country Life's 7 examples of what to do with an old phonebox, I took the trouble of taking a "houndie" at the worlds smallest visitor centre.

My answer to: Day 8 Question 2

Yes Bob and I were both lucky enough to go to St Mary's Bay holiday camp for a week during our last year of primary school.

I remember eating in vast huts like POW dormitories in Stalag 13 on Hogan's Heroes and being gobsmacked at the sight of sparrows nesting in the rafters above the table. I'm sure some of the food had more toppings than it was meant to!!

The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway ran right past the camp so we were lucky to see all the Locos during the week. Both Bob and I bought "Tor" catapult rockets, from the camp shop, which you fired up into the air and at the top of their climb the gravity powered mechanism opened the side and released a parachute to float back down to earth. We made many trips across the railway to retrieve those little gems.

The ride on the railway was the highlight of the week.

We spent the entire day catching the train from St Mary's Bay

to Hythe and then returning back through Romney and on to Dungeness where we caught a glimpse of the new Nuclear Power Station under construction :

Thinking back I expect the teachers kept the railway trip to the last day to help prevent homesickness as we had something to look forward to for the whole week

We have seen all we want to here at Flodden now so heading off to The Salutation for lunch. I was impressed with the monument though and it did engender an eerie feeling while strolling around the battle field:
