I have not found the answer to Q6 yet, I thought it was John Crossley under Ribblehead Viaduct and wasted loads of time proving myself to be wrong, so a clue would be appreciated!!

Well done for finding the sign, Pleased to see that Alston is just 10 miles but a steep climb up then coast down, We may find a horsebox at hartside rather than the new gleaming cafe just yet. One of those catering horseboxes from Saddlebacks who do do posh coffees and the like but a can of cream soda will do me after that climb ahead.

Yes I have arrived I'll have tea this time again form Farrars but I might fancy a sausage sandwich, something a bit savoury.

and a Clue. The place we are talking about for number 6 is the place I had the rhubarb Tart. So that pic is a well known "landmark" in the village.

St Lawrence's Church, the Organ, 16th Century
The organ, a gift to Appleby from Carlisle Cathedral in 1683, contains parts dating from the 16th Century, and is the oldest working English organ in the country. It was restored in 1976.

Now are you stopping at the top at Saddlebacks. I was just going to have a cool can, but I'm going to let them make me a latte and I'm going to have one of their traybakes.

Down the other side is one of those easy to switch off moments , and another sign warns long descent many bends. So take care Mick and Bob, easy in the euphoria of a fast downhill to run out of road especially with a trailer of canoes!

We'll both join you in a Latte and its ginger cake for me and a cheese toastie for Bob. We were a bit worried about this bit with the trailers so we sent them on to the B&B in a pick-up truck when we were in Dufton!!

Time for the freewheel down to Alston, not going to bother following Route68 through Leadgate just heading down the A686 right into Alston, hopefully wont need to turn the pedals until the South Tyne is crossed and we are virtually at the Cumberland. So a bit of a pause, a shower, freshen up I think Ive tackled all the quiz questions, and then out to eat again. Alston tends to be a daytime pause for us normally, Theres a tea room at the South Tyne railway, and one up in the market place but never really troubled the evening hostelries before. There is an Excellent brewery at Allendale not far away, so there may be some of those beers to be had in Alston later. Pennine Pale is particularly good one of my favoourites.

If the Cumberland put on a decent enough fare it will be as good as anywhere and maybe more relaxing than finding somewhere else unless Bob has already done it.

No in fact we have been deliberating and quite like the idea of not having to go out, just eat and sample the ales in the bar, maybe dinner out on the terrace first? Its the goulash for me and the pork for Bob:
