I'm confused. There's sprouts on the plate but it's not Christmas. How does that happen ?

They left the cabbages on the boil for too long, and they have shrunk!bobins wrote: 17 May 2020, 10:02 I'm confused. There's sprouts on the plate but it's not Christmas. How does that happen ?

Yes, I am paranoid, but am I paranoid ENOUGH?
Out amongst the stars, looking for a world of my own!

That was yesterday evening, the sun was shining and it was nice and warm, when we got outside the sun went in, we had a cold wind and the dinner went cold. Very nice though.

Discovered this painting for which the only adjective in town is "charming"

Kicks off today an 8-day virtual tackling of the Pennine Cycleway from Derby to Berwick Upon Tweed. Think of it as a virtual holiday. My message as ever, If you can just join in.

Me too Peter, many an hour was spent hiding in the bushes waiting for a steamy monster to appear from the Watford Tunnel a little bit like this:
although it was more like this in my Dad's day:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I have been remiss in missing my 2100th post celebratory picture as I had already sorted it out for posting. I have been busy on our virtual bike ride and missed my cue but better late than never and an appropriate choice for the FCF:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
My 'lawn' is a disaster, taken over by miniature clover like weeds.
I have begun destr regenerating it. Turning over the top six inches which will be treated after the weeds give up the fight.
I dug this and a bit of s**t jewellery. It is very thin and was so corroded it was unreadable.
After a few hours of soaking in white vinegar and using a brass wire brush on it it does seem to be a genuine fifty pence piece.
The markings are more visible in the photo's than to the naked eye.
Must have been there years and must be one of ours as we have lived here since 1987.

Nice day for taking photos, nature club, botany club, the surreal collection, and especially the "shadow" collection.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
An update from 'Nature Notes'......
First thing at work this morning, I had to descend down into the tailrace of the old mill - it's further down than it looks !
To retrieve these......
By the time I'd done that and got back to the lake, mum and the other ducklings had swum away so I then had to go in search of them so the ducklings could be sploshed back in the vicinity of mum. All reunited and happy

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I really am slipping with my celebratory cars. This is the second time in a row that I've overshot but I can't help it with all this peddling, paddling and beer drinking on the Pennine Trek we're on
Anyway here is my typically late and equally horrendous 2200 celebratory image:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Just reached Ingleton on the FCF Pennine Cycleway Holiday Challenge May 18th to May 25th 2020.
Didn't manage to detour this time to get a photo of Ribblehead Viaduct.
I would encourage you if to join in with our little cycle ride, easy to have a go at a few of the 8 or 9 a day quiz questions which just tease out a little additional information about the places we pass through.
Here's a rhetorical one, the answer is in the link
