Pennine Cycleway Quiz Question Day 3 Number 2
Where to these trains which regularly thunder through Hebden Bridge Station go from and to (or to and from)

That would be Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station: Start watching at 2mins 10 seconds unless you fancy a brief look around the canals at Hebden Bridge :-D

Now to look into number 3!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Just having a nice cup of tea on the hoof as Mrs Cannybody at the B&B filled up my flask, and packed a couple of home baked Yorkshire curd tarts, and fat rascals. Thought I would have a ponder at the robins nest poser.

Not the greatest but at least we won't need cabs!! Let me know if you'd like me to book a room for you when I call them at lunchtime. :-D

We have actually darkened the doors of that particular establishment Mick....Easy when you know where it is but we arrived in unfamiliar territory in the dark about 10pm trying to find it and it was a bit of a 'mare!. Comfortable enough sort of place you might go "mmm its alright" but nowt to write home about. Then again its a virtual trip so we can make it what we want!

So as not to inform those who wish to think on:
Spoiler: show
I think the fat rascals have mingled your thinking there Neil :-D Both George and Mildred and Robin's Nest were spin offs from Man About the House with the characters you have named! I have not checked this but I don't think Paula Wilcox made it to Robin's Nest but another main actor did join as Sally Thomsett's father, can you name him? and then there was an Irish potman in the kitchen who I can't remember though I can see his face and lop sided posture

Had a very nice coffee and macaroon at Robin's Nest and we have now reached Sowerby Bridge where I discovered there used to be a thriving engine manufacturing plant.
So Pennine Cycleway Quiz Question Day 3 Number 4 is: What type of engines were built here?

Had a lovely ride around the town and came across a vandalised picture on the wall. It appears to show some sort of gathering but the vandals have sprayed over the relevant part!
So Pennine Cycleway Quiz Question Day 3 Number 5 is: What is going on in the picture?:

No particular merit for the poser you posed about the father of one of the girls, I saw his face and knew his surname was was easily misspellable and couldnt remember his first name, was it Edward or Benjamin?...no couldn't think of it so looked it up :-D

Right, round about lunchtime for me, the fat rascals have worn off, and I'm ready for the Shoulder of mutton..I'll just park the bike grab an alfresco table with the bowler and se what the fare on offer is. At least not having a car to park is a bonus...its normally a nightmare in Hebden Bridge.

I refer you to my previous posting...just round the corner :-D

viewtopic.php?p=644960#p644960

I thought we may ponder the map of the next part of the route. The recommendation of one of the things I read was to do the over the moors route to Colne. This may appeal for the paddling opportunities for you and bob.

The other route could be more urban in parts via Burnley but I do like a bit of industrial architecture and history.

Sneaking up to the wall while we were grappling for the table eh? :-D
Yes I think it would be good to take the opposite paths as the shorter distance should give us some paddling time. How about meet up at :

for afternoon tea and an exchange of shots from the different routes. Then we can carry on to the B&B at leisure.

Super, Take your time I might take some electric assistance for my additional miles.

I was trying to find a blog I had found before but struggled for a while, I remembered he had said something good about Barnoldswick, thought it might be accommodation related but it was this....
Probably because it was so unexpected in such a disappointing place as Barnoldswick, I’m awarding McCullough’s Bar the prize. The beer was very good and well priced, the other customers were friendly, and there was a surprisingly good level of free music on the Monday night I visited.
I think the Stone trough is going to have to satify our accomodation needs so if you could get me a bed for the night that would be great. Might be worth having a stroll to McCulloghs Bar just to acknowledge Ian Dents recommendation..we are following roughly his stages after all.

I will tackle any accumulated quiz questions back at the Stone Trough for a bit of relaxation!

Regards Neil
