Sorry for not joining you today on your tour. I had to spend last night kipping in a bus shelter as I couldn't for the life of me get the Brompton sorted. I've had to break out the spanners and oxy for it as I think I bent a bit of the frame whilst trying to put it together. It's taken quite a bit of fettling to get it sorted, but I think this is how it should go together. I've got a mate testing it to see if it's all good and the brakes work. I'm not sure I'll get too far tonight so I might find a B&B in town and set off early tomorrow if it all goes well. :)

Points to Mick.

Estimate won the Royal Ascot Gold Cup in 2013 (making it the first time a ruling Monarch of the United Kingdom won the Gold Cup; the GRIN on Her Majesty's face was a joy to behold), but (as you say) tested positive for morphine the following year (so cost The Queen £81,000, as she had to return the winnings for second place), which was due to poppy seeds getting into her feed (at the suppliers; other horses may well have had similar issues with feed from that supplier). Because it was accidental no stables were penalised.

Normally it is the reigning Monarch who presents The Royal Ascot Gold Cup, but on this occasion it was the Duke of York (Prince Andrew) who presented the Gold Cup. The winning owner gets to keep the Gold Cup; a new one is made for each race.

The haddock was brilliant although I do have to say the dripping was a bit over generous on the chips. Having said that the palate is well and truly prepared to try a pump run, in halves I think, at The Traveller's Rest. However I've had a problem getting hold of a cab to the pub as the local firm can't get here till 9.30 so we've blagged a lift from a chap in the park who is taking his girlfriend back to Meltham and can drop 4 of us on the way. He has a Grand Picasso 1.6 HDi so we should feel at home. He is leaving the park at 8.50.

I've just woken up, I was dreaming that James had Chaufferred Her Majesty the Queen up to Yorkshire and we had all enjoyed a fish supper from Hilltop Fisheries in the park straight out of polystyrene trays, and we were about to be given the privilege of riding in the Queens Rolls Royce up to the travellers Rest and I was about to chill further by putting some slow blues on the cassette deck in the roller. Hang on its all Virtual, thats exactly what I am going to do.

See you up there chaps :-D No need to let reality get in the way of a decent dream.

Cheers Neil

I hate to spoil your dreams, but there's not a hope that Her Maj would give you a lift in her Rolls - not with those greasy fingers, and it'd take gallons of Febreze to get rid of the smell of fish :-D

Erm, that is NOT a Rolls Royce, it is one of two Bentleys built for her Golden Jubilee. When either are being used to convey Her Majesty the Flying B is replaced by her mascot, which is of Saint George (or a single Lion, when she is in Scotland).

Is he a very slow driver Mick? or has the Citroen broken down and you've had to call the AA?

Well the Picasso has made it and we are sitting in the main bar with two halves of guinness to start the ball rolling. Bob's gone to the jukebox so stand by for some country classics!!

We;ve missed the weekly pub quiz which in the real world is on a Wednesday but I'm sure we can lob a few more in as the night goes on. Do either of you fancy a Dessert? The fish and chips was the main.

Just looking for the a list of local beers so to start off as a trip down memory lane I am going to go for a half of Websters Pennine Bitter. Websters were formerly big players in this area of West Yorkshire based in Halifax.

As you're at the bar Neil I'll have half of Platinum Blonde and Bob's is a half of Mill Town, Cheers. I'll have a look at the dessert menu and get them ordered too when you tell me what you'd like, and anyone else for a dessert? :)
