Mick if you get to the Quiet Woman before me could you order me a "delapidated sausage roll" and a Pickled egg please, and a half pint of the beer as long as it is up to the usual quality!.
The welcome was frosty and when one of my boys asked for food, the lady pointed at some dilapidated sausage rolls on the bar and told him, ' that's it'.

the beer tasted like it had been stuck in the pipes for some time as it was pretty naff.

Part Answer to Q4:
Spoiler: show
Betty Driver (or Turpin) was the landlady of the Cock at Whaley Bridge but nothing on Treacle yet!!
Comes up as a story roughly 7th answer down on a google search for "the cock whaley bridge" maybe page 2 on DDG?

Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a pork pie?

This is allegedly how the pub got its name:

The story goes that a former pub landlord’s wife, known as “Chattering Charteris” nagged so much that she even started ranting in her sleep. At last her husband could stand it no more and cut off her head. The approving villagers even had a “whip round” to pay for the headstone.

The locals described their local blitz:

They bombed our church them Germans did
In nineteen forty one
And left it there without a lid
Exposed to wind and sun

And when at last the war was o’er
And Hitler was the loser
We knelt, praying as of yore
Thanked God they missed the boozer

However the advice is:
Swerve the resident beers in favour of guest ales from the local Wincle Beer Company.

and as for food:
The pub offers good pork pies, a family room with pool, skittles and darts; picnic-sets out in front along with budgies, hens, ducks and donkeys

We'll go for the guest ale and a pork pie leaving room for Betty's hotpot tonight! :-D

I like the budgies! Weird sort of place. Yes a quick Pork Pie would suit me fine

I've got one of these in my pocket should go well with the local ale and the pie. A creamy mature cheddar cheese blended with Old Hag Ale from the Wincle Brewery and Mustard Seeds.

Are we going alfresco, or attempting to communicate with the locals in the bar.

I think I'll head into the bar and put Bing Crosby on the jukebox to subtly annoy the locals....

I'm having a bit of trouble putting the Brompton together in the station car park. I should have it done in no time though. Carry on without me and I'll catch up as soon as I can :)

Anyway better head for Buxton, with this selection ringing in my ears.

I guess it's time to get back in the saddle for the last leg through Buxton to Whaley Bridge. On the way we will pass by a property owned by Norbert Dentressangle which gives me the opportunity to pose Question Number 5: Where is the property and name three of its uses in the last 80 years!

Just time to try a shadow picture on the canvas of the road. Bit too cloudy, and the sun's not low enough for those decent long shadows.

Buxton's quite close but its a decent town for a little dilly dally, and after that pork pie chesse and two pints, a little ride and a cup of tea and a bit of cake in Buxton, before the whaley bridge effort might be nice!

This will do for me, if you are too full up or want to lash on to Whaley Bridge I'll see you at the B&B :-D I need to get some free water too at St Ann's Well!
