Faulty codes Citroen c5 hdi 2011 163 hp - need help!

Post by Der_Bomber1978 »

Hello!

Have never posted before, but have gained so much help here in the past from reading others.

I have a 2011 Citroën C5 hdi 163hp.
180000km, have been running great up until lately. I have orange engine fault in my dash.

Checked out the faulty codes and gets the following:
P107a
P1497
P2562

It said something about low turbo pressure and I get the feeling the car is a bit slower in acceleration. Can this be the EGR?

Or what does you guys here say? Anyone that know this problem.

Cheers, Filip

Hi Filip

P107a: Boost pressure regulation: Air pressure below the reference value (APV).
For an engine speed between 2500 and 3750 rpm and an engine torque less than 275 Nm: The fault appears if the turbo air pressure measured is lower by 800 mbars than the reference for 6 seconds.

For an engine speed between 2000 and 3750 rpm and an engine torque less than 320 Nm: The fault appears if the turbo air pressure measured is lower by 450 mbars than the reference for 6 seconds.

The fault is active when the engine speed is above 1500 rpm / the engine torque is greater than 100 Nm. There can be lots of reasons for this including:
  • Atmospheric pressure sensor: Sensor fault, Clogged air filter, Flowmeter: Failure of the air temperature sensor
  • Air line between turbocharger and mixers: Air leak
  • Air line between mixer and engine (including EGR valve take-off): Air leak
  • Turbocharger air cooler: Blockage; Loss of charge
  • Turbo pressure sensor: Sensor fault; Electrical harness
  • Turbocharger: Seizing of the variable geometry; Wheels broken in the compressor or turbine; Turbocharger shaft broken; Air leak / Gas
  • Turbocharger solenoid valve: Failure of the solenoid valve; Electrical harness
  • Position indicator of the turbocharger: Sensor fault; Electrical harness
  • Exhaust gas recycling valve: Seizing; Internal leak
  • Exhaust gas recycling electric valve position copy signal: Sensor fault; Electrical harness
  • Oil: Damage to the oil (carbon, dilution, oxidation); Poor lubrication; Thick oil
  • Cracks in the oil sump; Under bonnet or underbody oil leak
  • Filter broken; Lack of lubrication; Poor lubrication
  • Oil pump broken; Lack of lubrication
  • Lubrication circuit of the turbocharger: Oil leak; Poor lubrication
  • Vacuum pump: Broken
  • Vacuum circuit: Hose leak; electrovalves
P1497: Variable geometry turbocharger: Position incorrect in relation to the requirement - Not enough turbocharging. The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 30 % for 6 seconds.

Possible Causes:
  • Turbocharger: Variable geometry open
  • Turbocharger solenoid valve: Failure of the solenoid valve; Electrical harness
  • Position indicator of the turbocharger: Electrical harness
  • Vacuum circuit leak

P2562: Variable geometry turbocharger: Position incorrect in relation to the requirement; Not enough turbocharging. The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 40 % for 6 seconds.

When this fault is present the EGR function is deactivated.

Possible causes:
  • Turbocharger: Variable geometry open
  • Turbocharger solenoid valve
  • Position indicator of the turbocharger
  • Electrical harness
  • Vacuum circuit

Does anyone know what turbo to buy? What brands works best, fit well och is easy to fit?
Henkel, BTS, Alanko, Lucas, Garrett are just a few i have seen online.

Your inout would be very nice. Cheers!

How have you determined that your current turbocharger is faulty? Have you tried spinning it through the inlet port?

There is also a good chance that the real problem is with the vacuum system that controls the waste gate.

New to this problem. I will def yry to check that before moving on with any new turbo. Any goid videos on youtube on this type of problem i have? Spinning inlet port and how to determin function of vacuum system/wadte gate!

Thankful for all you advice and input👍👍👍
