I expect he will have if he is able. He is working very long hours trying to both help victims and produce a vaccine or treatment. He has subject himself to medical research many times including while he was studying for his degree.

Something else that might help is black coffee with ginger in it. Sandi Toksvig swears by it. Apparently, when they were filming in The Sudan there was a corner vendor selling it, Sandi tried it and liked it. The rest of the crew said she was mad. Then everybody but her came down sick.

That is just the sort of thing she does. Picked up a few oddities like that when she was working in Ethiopia last year. A grim place where such potions are an absolute requirement.

SWMBOjunior frequently produces potions like that, claiming they are soups or health drinks. I have managed to stay healthy without the majority of them as I don't want my tastebuds to die without me!! :-D

When I was in hospital last year with cancer my middle daughter produced a concoction which was basically a turmeric smoothie.

I agreed to drink half of it and then wished I hadn't! It gave me a pain in my stomach and a generally uncomfortable feeling for a few days afterwards. Even though it was an expensive to produce drink I poured the other half away.

Just saw that Piers Morgan is off GMB because of the virus, it doesn't say if he has it or is it. :-D

Has Piers Morgan contracted COVID 19, or has COVID 19 contracted Piers Morgan?

Ah, I missed that. Still, I came up with that 'saying' ages ago, when one of the local radio presenters caught athletes foot. When I phoned in and asked "Has Stu caught athletes foot, or has athletes foot caught Stu?" the rest of the crew cracked up. Stu wasn't amused. I wonder why?

This is interesting;

As it is based in Belgium (and not the US of A) there is a good chance all of the World could get to benefit, and not have to pay an eye watering amount of money for a prescription.

This post occupies a space where I have removed a no longer accurate post concerning the VE day thread.

I have been told (but I CANNOT confirm the accuracy of this) that Chlorhexidine may have an affect on COVID 19 (as it may affect the coating of the virus particle). I cannot find definitive proof either way of this. Chlorhexidine can be found in some mouthwashes. If you were to rinse your mouth out before you brush your teeth (don't do it afterwards, as the mouthwash could also remove any protective layers left behind by the toothpaste) it might reduce the levels of COVID 19 in your mouth should you have contracted COVID 19. While this may not help YOU it could reduce your level of infectiousness.

I've been unable to find anything on chlorhexidene specifically in the context of a mouthwash but I would treat the advice with caution. Better advice is to wash your hands more often using plain soap and water. In fact soap and water is better than anti-microbial agents as using these can encourage resistant microbes. See here https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/03/03/ ... ctors-say/

Interestingly (well, to me at least) the article almost deprecates anti-microbial washes in favour or soap and water or alcohol rubs.

So, basic hygiene routines I would say. Together with distancing precautions and face masks (to protect others from you) are the way to go.

You will find CB12 does contain chlorhexidine as is evidenced here: https://www.cb12.co.uk/en-gb/faq
I am not trying to make a point here, just present some facts from personal experience:
When I was in Spain at the beginning of the year with SWMBO she suffered a 6-7 day horrible cough and was short of breath. We did not realise it at the time but we now think she may have had a dose of Covid-19. During that time neither my mate nor I contracted whatever it was she did have. She uses Listerine mouthwash every morning and evening which does not contain chlorhexidine and both my mate and I use CB12 which does. Food for thought!! :)
