Indeed it was the view towards Bognor that inspired him

Image

"Yes - By the Sleepy Lagoon. It was inspired in a very curious way and not by what you might expect. It was inspired by the view on a warm, still summer evening looking across the "lagoon" from the east beach at Selsey towards Bognor Regis. It's a pebble beach leading steeply down, and the sea at that time is an incredibly deep blue of the Pacific. It was that impression, looking across at Bognor, which looked pink - almost like an enchanted city with the blue of the Downs behind it - that gave him the idea for the Sleepy Lagoon. He didn't write it there; he scribbled it down, as he used to, at extreme speed, and then simply took it back with him to London where he wrote and orchestrated it."

While we wait for the next FCF Member to join in with their own selection of 9 Albums to take to the desert island

Steve, is that your first of your nine selections for your own Desert Island Discs, or a guess at Mick's Frank Sinatra track ("My Way" was Micks chosen track got by Bobins)...or something else?

No, a musician I stumbled over a couple of days ago. She has another here that is very amusing - in more ways than one as some of it harks back to when the king was in an event in town and I knew the organisers, there was potential for it all to go horribly wrong with just the works "His Majesty The King"

I haven't even thunk of a DID heap of songs. Can I have nine Jackie Evancho albums?

Gunhild is a multi-instrumentalist and the band is her family.

I enjoyed Gunhild but her trombone did sound a bit impure if you know what I mean!! Great entertainer though.

As for your plan for 9 Jackie Evancho albums, that could be tricky as her discography on wiki says she has only made 8!! :-D

There is one called "Prelude To A Dream" that she made with David Foster when she was nine but withdrawn when she was ten as she had improved so much.
£1,000 second hand if you can find one.

This is taken from it, the one and only time she sang this.

I have clearly posted in the wrong thread though, it was meant to be the Jukebox thread.

I've taken the liberty of packaging up a possible 9 for your DID selection Steve :-D

Sorry I've not quite got the rules of this but.... Can I have a go?

I should imagine all my choices would be quite to guess (they're all from the same decade and a lot are from one band) but I could be wrong....

First up -

Welcome aboard! Great if you could become a regular!
Simple idea really just choose your Nine Albums/Singles/Tracks whatever to be your Desert Island Discs.
Shove them up all at once or just post them up singly or whatever its up to you.

There are at least 2 or 3 including myself who enjoy a bit of quizzing/guessing games etc and instead of just posting up the album covers, have removed the titles/artists to have a bit play.

There's only one rule on any thread I start......just join in....participation is king!

Regards Neil

PS I don't know your album cover off the top of my head but usually I can come up with decent guess with a bit of research..which I enjoy

I'll put my suggestion in a spoiler to stop others seeing it unless they want to, click on "show" to read it :-D
Spoiler: show
Is it The Smiths - The World Wont Listen?
