Re: FCF Desert Island Discs
Lets see if I can apply some guessing logic to get my own knocked off list up to 6 before I go for my daily "Life on Mars" fix.
So the career timeline on one of those choices is startish to finishish I'm thinking that your passion for the band will have been ingrained long before the later release, so I've plumped for the earlier one.
On the second one whats the greater influence on liking something? A personal connection, or a universally recognised standard. Bit unsure on this one, I mean as reported on here before I put the B side to a particular version of the more well known song on in a York station refreshment room. So I'm plumping for the "other one".
Changes highlighted in purple in the spoiler...……….
Might as well have a go at the 3 definitely wrong....changes in Purple too

Re: FCF Desert Island Discs
Having done some pondering of my own and deciding I need to get a move on as there's not many artists left to choose from, and as now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain before Neil gets all the points , my friend, I'll make it clear-ish, I'll state my case in a roundabout sort of way, of which I am not at all certain but it's a stab in the dark. Is the Sinatra one 'My Way' ?

For a measly 10 points, and without looking it up, towards where was Eric Coates looking that inspired him to write By The Sleepy Lagoon ? A clue - it's on the south coastNewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 21:09

Re: FCF Desert Island Discs
Well done Neil, that's a full set for which you score 80 points because Bobins got ten points earlier!! Well done indeed, I will mark any other answers if you want to have a go yourself and then I'll openly post my list at the weekend.
I will be starting a new thread at midnight tonight with a specific target to achieve in 24 hours to celebrate 75th anniversary of VE day tomorrow. I propose that we rename the FCF as the Fantastic Celebratory Forum for 24 hours to properly celebrate that joyous day in 1945, 75 years ago tomorrow. It will need as many people to contribute as possible to achieve the target of 75 relevant posts by midnight tomorrow night. So please join in with that and help the FCF celebrate properly!!

Pure Guess, on the beach at Sandbanks looking across to the other side where Harry Rednap did his series?bobins wrote: ↑07 May 2020, 21:27For a measly 10 points, and without looking it up, towards where was Eric Coates looking that inspired him to write By The Sleepy Lagoon ? Re: FCF Desert Island Discs
South Coast is it festooned with lagoons that are sleepy? There's a bit at Poole Poole Harbour? Brownsea Island...would have to look it up to get the right name, or maybe that long road that goes out to Portland-ish has a lagoon on the landward side of the "bar". There's the Loe-Bar which I have been to in Cornwall with the beach and a Lagoon behind that's quite sleepy. If I had to plump for one it would be Portland.....some link there with the filming of the Dambusters which has Eric Coates associations too I think!
Yes I'm not a South Coast local by any means!
Regards Neil

Then that means Lyme Regis or Bognor Regis, so I'll plump for Bognor as per bugger?:
