Brake upgrade 205 td

I have a 205 td and the brakes have always been cr*p, is there any easy disc caliper upgrade ??, The bloody things cook and fade in 5 miles of fast road.

Dont know if this is any help but i managed to fit larger discs and calipers to my 1.9 gti from a wrecked 206 hdi,no problem at all.bear in mind that im running 16"rims so theres plenty of space.

Berlingo fronts might be a good upgrade, big vented discs and large pads. I think you may have to move up to 14in rims to fit them in though.

is that just a disc upgrade not caliper too ?
never heard of berlingo ? costly ?
if too expensive how about good pads and just keep changing the discs ;o)

OK did a lot of searching and guess what ?
the 205 td came with solid front discs or vented front discs !!
As you can guess i have the solid front discs, so the question is can I bolt on some calipers and vented discs ?
will all of the calipers have the same mounting points ??

Your best bet might be to find a 205 td in a scrap yard that has vented discs and matching calipers and use them,not sure but some td 205 used the same front sus as 1.6 gti.

matt, did you have to change your master cylinder for the different calipers or is the bore(?) the same and so your pedal travel hasnt altered?

its a good idea in practise matt but just seeing a 205 td on the road is rare these days let alone in a scrapper

Regarding master cylinder bore,i dont know whats on 206 HDI but all i did was change the calipers and discs.The pedal felt fine and has since gone through mot no problem.The car i got them off only had a few miles on it and the calipers still had that nice new zinc coating on,perfect.

Don't know if it helps but.. I swopped the calipers from a ZX Volcane and bought new vented disks and new greenstuff pads onto my ZX 1.9D

I also bought a new master cilinder as the brakes were poor after the swop. The brakes are super now.
But I had already fitted 14inch Volcane ally's so that made more room for the larger disks.
