That's a good story! My C5 is steel-sprung and if genuine ones are poor quality I might as well get some cheap chinese ones and try them out. If they break, no big loss. Ibobins wrote: ↑01 May 2020, 20:05 If you're driving a steel sprung C5 X7 and you regularly load it up then you need to be carfeul of driving over rough ground as the mudflaps can very easily bottom-out. Ask me how I know I used to have some front mudflaps fitted (Genuine Citroen), but they didn't last very long and are probably still sitting by the side of the dirt track in Germany somewhere

It's not that they're poor quality, it's that they're in a vulnerable position and can get knocked off in certain circumstances. If you own a hydropneumatic C5 or don't load it heavily and/or don't drive on rough tracks, then there won't be any problem

HicitroC5 wrote: ↑01 May 2020, 19:52Hi there Steve,
I saw some Chinese ones myself, but reviews said they were hard plastic and would break if you hit a curb. That's why I've been searching for OEM ones.
The Chinese ones I saw were really inexpensive, under 15€ (some £13) on ALiexpress. Are these the ones you recommend? Thanks in advance
My daughter purchased mine from ebay, they are obviously not as good as OEM but they serve a purpose for my needs.
They are made of a soft plastic material (not rubber but not brittle plastic)
The ground clearance is good not like my old Peugeot 407 that used to ground at every opportunity
The only issue I had with fitting was my reluctance to drill through the front wing so I opted to drill another hole in the mudflap fixing to the wheel arch liner and finishing the original hole in the flap with a suitable blank (only for asthetic reasons)
The mudflaps are contoured and I will attempt to upload a couple of photographs later when I have cleaned the car
Regards
Steve

Hello Steve,
They look very good in the pics! Thanks for the tip on not drilling through the actual bodywork, I wholeheartedly agree.
I understand your pain regarding the dents in the tailgate. Some oaf dented the rear driver-side door last summer, and it has driven me barmy to look at it ever since.

That ding on the tailgate looks like a prime candidate for paintless dent removal to me.

Hi
It probably is but during the lock down and just after things will get expensive as people try to recoup their losses.
I did a search the other night for a salvage part and it came back at £378 +vat and £30 delivery
I don't think so!
It will get done hopefully later on in the year
Regards

I bought one of the Chinese PDR kits from eBay to remove some dings on my hairdryer and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Don't expect quick results - and it ain't going to turn you into a PDR pro - but if you're prepared to persevere, you can get very good results yourself.

Unfortunately, even though the flaps were surprisingly resistant, they couldn't take the constant beating of getting in and out of my garage. The pavement ramp to the garage is close to useless since it's way too inclined, and constant knocks and scrapes smashed the front left flap to bits. I don't regret having bought them at all, but I'm a bit miffed they didn't work out.

Re: Mudflaps on a Citroen C5 Tourer - yay or nay?
Some of the original Citroen accessory mudflaps were almost rigid. Aftermarket ones tend to be flexible polyurethane ('rubber'), so less prone to damage or being knocked loose.

If I could find some rubber ones, that would be great. The ones I had were rigid plastic with very little give.

Just put Citroen C5 mudflaps into Amazon.
Lots there, including Citroen-logo'd ones.
It's where I got mine from (see XM photos above).

Thanks for the tip, Chris, but unfortunately either they're sold out or won't ship to my location (I'm not in the UK).white exec wrote: ↑26 Aug 2020, 20:27Just put Citroen C5 mudflaps into Amazon.

Try Amazon.es, or Amazon.de.
