Found an old DVD somebody dropped off yonks ago that was given an airing last week - called 'Tim' - an old Aussie film with Mel Gibson and Piper Laurie.

Just caught a glimpse when Piper Laurie is driving Tim in her CX Pallas.

One thing to me is slightly obvious, is that on the internal close ups of conversations inside the car, the vehicle is obviously not riding like a CX, so a dead giveaway for us in the know that this was probably shot whilst being towed on a vehicle

Far too bumpy for a CX...

So, would a hydropneumatic Citroen on a trailer, going over bumps, ride like a hydropneumatic Citroen?
Silly question. Secondhand bumps just aren't the same, presumably.

Try this one then (as I know such a beastie exists);

How would a hydropneumatic Citroen (with its' engine running and everything working properly) ride if it were on a properly configured hydropneumatic trailer being towed by a hydropenumatic Citroen?

Normally.

The only difference is it would be like being double-damped or more insulated from the original road surface conditions.

I worked for an advertising company that had the account of a manufacturer of articulating dump trucks with hydropneumatic suspension, which is the closest I can imagine to what you are proposing.

Caterpillar bought them out and continued producing them - they used caterpillar engines anyway.

In an odd turn of events, the caterpillar factory was only a couple of miles from where I live and worked, but it is now Komatsu - who have their own range of hydropneumatic articulating dump trucks.

Perhaps the final ignominy to have a CX transported on a dump truck though :(

If all the damping were working decently, I guess the Citroen on the trailer's ride would be very smooth and stable.
However, if the damping were poor, there could be something of a chain-reaction to bumps, with a nasty resonant vertical 'whip' building up, and the trailered Citroen ending up flailing about.
Thanks goodness for those tiny holes, little washers, and green blood!

Black C6 in "Spooks" - GF08HNO
There was a fleeting glimpse of a blue Xantia in an earlier one, no registration visible.

My guess would have been The Professionals or The Sweeney judging by the image quality, but having viewed the spoiler - I'll settle on The Sweeney :)

With the Ford Granada I would have to agree that The Sweeney is more likely.

EDIT (on 21/04/2020); I have just switched between channels and found (on ITV4) they were showing The Sweeny (episode "Money, Money, Money"), and (as I flicked across) I saw that chase! 5 seconds either way and I would have missed it.

Quite correct, from The Sweeney episode Money, Money, Money. Are you sure you didn't come across it on ITV4+1 James as I was watching it yesterday on ITV4 when I took the snaps which I posted. I did post at 5.55ish and the episode was screened 4.50-5.55 so it would have been on ITV4+1 5.50-6.55 which fits in with your posting time...spooky!! :chin: Unless of course they have taken to repeating their repeats just a couple of hours later :!: :?:
