It says for the Diesel injectors fixing pillar screws - Camshaft bearings covers:
Tightening A.PNG
Systematically replace the nuts (1).
When tightening by hand, check that the flange (7) stays horizontal and clipped on its circlip.
Stop the manual tightening when the retaining ring comes into contact with the main bearing cap casting.

Pre-tighten to the specified torque: The nuts (1) using the tools [3], [5].

Pre-tighten: 0.5 daNm
Tightening: 1 daNm
Tightening.PNG
Method for tightening the nuts (1) (Angular tightening) using the tools [4], [2]:

Position the zero (marking "b") facing the operator
Place the moving index "c" to the required tightening angle
Tighten progressively and in one single action, bringing the mobile index "c" opposite the zero (marking "b") of the tool [4]

Nothing's ever simple is it...

Thanks Marc, so there are 2 methods, a standard torque wrench and the angular disc if I've understood correctly?
Just to bring another into the mix, the BOLs. Pre-tighten to 4nm followed by a further 65 degrees. (For anyone reading this, this is specifically for a 1.6 DOHC DV6TED4 as all flavours are slightly different)
Just to add a little bit more mud, I'm going to ask a mate / mechanic as well, he's mentioned in the past that he nips them up during routine servicing.
It's a bit different to the torque setting for a spark plug years ago which was 'that'll be tight enough'.

moizeau wrote: 18 Mar 2020, 18:56 The emissions were indeed very good, I'm allowed 1.49 and got 0.15 and 0.14. Just on the injectors, can anyone tell me what the torques are and how often to check them please?
My mistake on the rh cv, it is the lh one, not had chance to see if it's split or not jubed / clamped correctly. It's going to need a lh rear tyre soon so I'll get the tracking checked at the same time.
I used a different testing place this time 'cause a mate said the chap uses common sense and is an ex mechanic. Yes he does. Didn't fail the rear lens because no white light could escape, advised on the corrosion underneath (the last place would have listed multiple fails). The LH tail light failed part way through the test, but he'd already checked it when it was working and told me to put a new bulb in, as it turns out it needed a bit of contact cleaner and a bend of a prong. Rear high level brake light now works (advisory).
So apart from a wire brushing, checking the lh rear caliper, lh cv boot and getting the tracking done....sorted. Very pleased indeed.
You should have kept it Rich.....glad you didn't though.
Pete, the left hand driveshaft end and boot were just replaced in 2018 so surely it’s not leaking already? As you say maybe just a clamp needs nipping a bit more. As you already know last month it had an oil and filters change, also in case you hadn’t spotted it already the air intake pipe between maf and air filter is split near the air filter box. I just gaffer taped it up as I couldn’t find a second hand part.😎

I've turned off the 'auto locking' from the loading bay and the seat belt warning (I move around a bit away from the public roads in very small distances).
Next line of attack is the under body rust.
I need to wire brush everything to death, then treat with a rust stabiliser, then top coat.
Can anyone (any classic car owners and the like) point me in the direction of products to get and just as importantly, products to avoid? Also application methods would be appreciated.
Cheers

A few of the lads on the Rover forum recommend this stuff Pete

https://aquasteel.co.uk/ and this https://www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-pr ... reatments/. Another product is Hammerite Kurust. which is made near me. Then spray with body Schultz . Not sure how it would work legally but I have known some old school car enthusiasts paint the underbody with a few coats of waste engine oil.

That used to be Kingston Kurust when I was a lad. When did they get bought up by Hammerite? Is Hammerite still made by Finnegan's in fact?

Cheers Rich, yeah, used engine oil works really well, look at the chassis under any old Landy. The same method was used for fence panels. Not really for the 21st century though. The other products look good. I'll have to see if they're available over here. Thanks.

No. IIRC ICI bought it years ago, it just isn't the same any more.
Kurust was a bit suspect, as was Jenolite but there was one other that was really good, it disappeared and I can't remember what it was called now.
Blathered loads of it on the GS but it was unable to prevent its ultimate demise.

Not fancying the all in one miracle cures. Hammerite was a 'cover all' in my youth. Looking for a bit of graft with lasting results.

Finnegans is now an Akzo-Nobel brand. ICI is pretty much no more. IIRC, even Dulux (a famous ICI brand) passed to A-N too.

4CR produce a really good underbody/cavity wax (code 3700), much more durable and long-lasting than waxoyl.
Lots of other good brands around too.

In Spain, Hammerite was for years produced under licence by Xylazel S.A. in Barcelona. They now have their own version of it - Oxirite - which has the merit of surviving exposure to mediterranean sun. Hammerite still available, but at a significantly higher price.

Ironically the company I worked for did a lot of the advertising for International Paints - which even back then was owned by Akzo-Nobel.

Azko-Nobel, then Sikkens as well in their family. What would you use to neutralise the rust Chris?
