93 tdsx thermostat

Hello all, Engine was getting a bit warm for my liking, so I decided to renew the Rad Cap and thermostat... all was going well till I placed the new t/stat into the housing and found it was slightly too small( by around 2 to 3mm) in diameter to seal effectively when the three bolts securing the plastic "nozzle?" were tightened. It may be that the engine on this car has been transplanted... so I wonder if anybody has an Idea which other thermostat may fit, or whether their are specs on the net from which I could "choose" a thermostat and gasket which fits?

had the same trouble with our ZX 1.9D - gasket supplied with thermostat was too thin and leaked. luckily my friendly accessory shop from whom I should have bought the thing in the first place had a stack of the right ones.
Its a common problem.
