I wonder how well it would work (immersion wise) if you could marry it up with a VR system, such as via a mobile phone and using the VR headset you place a phone into? I have VR on my PC, and for games that can use it VR is a huge game changer.

That's a good point on the subject of VR... I'm not aware of anyone having tried it and possibly because you also need to have full visibility of your bike whilst riding...

Be worth a try though...

I was thinking that, if you have your bicycle on a static rig (as you have now) VR could greatly improve the experience. I would NEVER consider it for when you are mobile, as VR would be way too much of a distraction. Just look at pedestrians using their mobile phones when out and about to see what I mean!

You've given me an idea there Peter, I wonder if I could use it with my Suzy on a paddock stand, may be better than the bagpipes for the neighbours1 :-D

Jim can have his pushbike simulator, and you could have one of these. You could link the computers and then terrorise each other on the roads :rofl2:

If we weren't stuck in lockdown I'd be bringing a projector over for experimentation...image covering the whole wall in front of you could be good for the total immersion side of things but without needing the discomfort of having a headset strapped to your face.

I have an Oculus Rift CV1 (with all of the paraphernalia) and the headset actually weighs less than 500g, which does not affect me in the slightest. OK, the resolution is not as sharp as the latest VR systems, but unless you keep your head still and focus on one spot you don't see the 'screen door' effect pixilation. The CV1 also has small (but high quality) headphones which (assuming the software has been properly programmed) track the audio placement well (including when you move your head to see what it was that made the noise behind you).

Loving the motorbike Simulator :-D

Peter, putting an e-bike on my Turbo would be interesting

Now that would be the ultimate Zel... Would definitely beat a headset... Another big problem with a headset would be moisture ingress. One gets very hot and sweaty on the turbo and I'm not sure your VR set would be happy being drenched on a regular basis!!!

Bobins, RGT Cycling has Mont Ventoux... It looks brutal

Today is a most auspicious day... This very beautiful and awesome girl has a special birthday today :-D

He is doing this for three days, 12 hours a day, in shifts. You can join him (virtually) on his 'journey', and (as you appear to have the equipment) I thought you might like to be able to say "I raced with Geraint Thomas".

Sadly, at my stage of my recovery it's just a little too much James  My rib and neck pain levels dictate I can't currently ride long, hard or far although things are improving by the day :)
