Hello everyone,,
I've been a viewer of the forum for many years, now properly registered to contribute. I've had mainly Citroens over the years and the odd Peugeot here and there.
Recently traded in a 2009 C5 X7 Estate after a 2 steering racks, 1 under a warranty in 2012 and 2nd paid myself in 2015 and both new full kit including pipes fitted by Citroen. It was the 1.6HDi, found it a bit slow on pick up but fine on the motorway. Spent most of the time on motorways in the UK, France and Spain. No issues with the engine except a EGR in 130k which caused breakdown on the motorway going through Barcelona. Previously had a MK1 for 8 years a 270k and head gasket and suspension gave up the same time.
Now got a 2015 Citroen C4 BlueHDi 120 Flair S&S Bourrasque Blue. 29k so far and no issues whatsoever. Very lively car albeit it always seems to need polished.
Also have Lexia available.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I have two X7 estates, one has the dreaded leaking steering rack but only leaks very slowly, I carry a can of LDS round with me and top it up when necessary. It passed the MOT like that. I actually prefer the one with the leak, the steering is lighter probably due to the lick of friction on the pinion seal and the super lubrication.
I wouldn't change mine for anything, my main requirements are comfort and quietness and they have it in spades, as long as you have the right tyres, even the steel sprung one rides better and quieter than anything else I have tried.

None really except a leaky steering rack - brilliant car, super ride and 60+ mpg on the motorway.

Hi and welcome.
Peter is the KING of MPG regardless of what car he drives so yes they are capable of that, and he does not live in an area that has minimal hills, quite the opposite, but i agree with the comfort of steel sprung X7 .
Run a 2010 2.0 HDI and a 2000 Xantia.
I prefer the Xantia but for toys and refinement the X7

I have had 70 mpg+ on the motorway - most of you would be bored to death driving like me.

Re: Hi All, new member
Peter it all depends on perspective, if you drive at a constant ( within limits ) speed you maybe driving slower than those in a hurry but add 15 mins to a journey from our neck of the woods to Glasgow for refueling if you are in a hurry and not much difference in journey times and not only cheaper but less stressful

Re: Hi All, new member
My experience entirely. This all started back in the '70s when I used to drive all over the country buying ex rental televisions, I was doing about 30k a year at one time and found that if I drove in the slow lane with the lorries I arrived much less tired and more relaxed,
I used to do Leeds and back in a day, around 600 miles with no problems at all, mind you the M5 had only just opened then and there was very little traffic. Wouldn't like to try it now.
