Dispatch van going into eco mode after a short time no where near 30 minutes.
Ive seen a thread by Marc "Economy mode fix procedure" He says its in the "how to pages for members" but I can't find that section Help please

Re: Eco mode
Thanks for that Marc, the next question is do you know anyone reliable to do this for me I live in Northampton. I'm in the process of converting the van in to a camper I can see it being a pain starting the engine to open a window presumbly your fix would help with this. My other option would be solar charging and or split charge circuit, which I,m intending to fit when funds are available.......Mick

Hi Mick
There are a list of members with diagnostic kits that may be able to do this on the list below. There is a link at the bottom of the list that takes you to a Google map of the member locations. Try sending a private message to anyone near you - however, please be aware that the Dispatch III that you have may require an additional interface and cable that sits inline between the Actia clone and the diagnostic port - not all members will have one as they are mainly used for commercial vehicles that have Ford and FIAT components.

Re: Eco mode
I'm wondering if theres an electrical fault or a fix for this with solar charging Do you have access to the electrical schematic showing alternator and battery connections, if so would you post a coppy?

Re: Eco mode
There's no fix, it's a sad fact that you can forget about 30 minutes of battery power with a Battery Charge Status Unit. I've tried even with a new battery on the X7 and it never gives me more than a few minutes - hence why I switched it back to direct BSI control. So solar charging won't help as the BCSU will still intervene and the BSI will switch everything off.

Re: Eco mode
Thanks Marc I'm still not up to speed with this system! to many abbreviations and terms I'm not familier with, I should have purchased a 1960's van! The reason I suspect I may have an electrical fault is 5 months ago I cheked the alternator it was giving 14 v at the battery but ecomode would kick in after a few minutes after stopping the engine. In the mean time I've been disconnecting and charging the battery every 2 months or so as I only use the van intermitently and then usualy for short runs. Now after a full charge it tackes almost 30 minutes before ecomode kicks in, after restarting it sometimes only takes a few minutes before its back in to ecomode. I've found ecomode kicks in at around 12.4v and resets at 12.7v if I then leave the engine running longer and monitor the voltage switching off at 12.7v it will then take about 20 minutes before it goes into ecomode. Apologies for this long rambling explanation but my point is the alternator only seems to give <13v but its giving 20 minutes before ecomode kicks in. This seams counter intuitive I would expect if battery voltage went to 14v it would take longer before ecomode would kick in? I need to monitor over a longer period to see if it comes up to 14v If you have access to a wiring diagram it would be a help...............Mick

From my previous post
I'm wondering if there's an electrical fault or a fix for this with solar charging Do you have access to the electrical schematic showing alternator and battery connections, if so would you post a copy?

When I said fix I was thinking a fix for my situation (intermittent use) rather than ecomode its self. Solar charging keeping the battery topped up so it would take longer before it went into ecomode. Solar panels can produce 20v (open circuit) but the battery impedance would hold this down of course if this input was connected to same the point as the alternator it might just fool the bsi into thinking the engine had been started. what do you think?...........Mick

Re: Eco mode
I can help you out with a few wiring codes - but as you'd have to expect these modern vehicles use a lot of multiplexed electronics - so you need to be careful what you cut, snip or join - otherwise you can affect the vehicle's systems down the line and hence its operation.
Anything preceded with an 'M' is an earth
1030A: Charging indicator activation command
9040: LIN BUS 1
100: Solenoid Control
B04 and B02 are battery positives
9049: Engine LIN BUS
9000S: High Intersystem / CAN bus
9001S: Low Intersystem / CAN bus
If you really want a way to provide some charging when not in use, I would simply find a solar panel that has some cut-off protection that you can attach to the battery directly, rather than trying to patch into the electrical systems.
