Diagbox update 7.57 to 7.58 or more? And possible reversal?

Post by Paul-R »

We're back in the UK and I now have time to work on the 308's misfire but before that I need to decide what to do about my Diagbox version.

At present I'm on 7.57 which seems to be fine for my 2013 X7 but a little lacking for our 2015 308. It reads most things on the 308 but has to be prompted for ECUs it doesn't natively recognise. I therefore wonder whether it's missing information from those ECUs as a result.

The Diagbox is n Easydiagnostics one but the incremental updates have been sourced from various places on the web (the Easydiagnostics update DVD goes straight to 8.17).

Anyway, I have the following individual update.exes for later versions:

Mise à jour Diagbox 7.57 vers 7.58
Mise à jour Diagbox 7.58 vers 7.62
Mise à jour Diagbox 7.62 vers 7.66 (8.02)
Diagbox Update V7.66 vers 7.74 (8.10)
Diagbox Update V7.74 vers V7.76 (8.12)
diagbox update (8.18) v7.76 vers v7.82 english version
DiagBox_updt_782-783_Simple

So I can go 7.57 > 7.58 > 7.62 > 7.66 > 7.74 > 7.76 > 7.82 > 7.83 in increments it appears. The Easydiagnostics DVD says that 7.57 is good for vehicles 1996 till 2015 so maybe 7.58 is enough of an increment?

My next question is, does it matter that some are in French? IIRC language choice was set at the first install.

I am aware that later versions remove some functionality and I am keen not to lose that too much so, if not 7.58, what version should I update to?

Finally, if the lateness of the version is a problem, what is involved in stepping back the versions? Would a system restore set point be enough?

Is there anything that I might have overlooked?

OK, let me just ask a more simple question. Has anyone ever rolled back to an earlier update? And, if so, how?

I suggest you increment one version at a time until you get the one that reads all the ECUs on the 308. You may end up having to go into the 7.6* or higher, depending on your build date though. If it's diagnostics only you need then I shouldn't worry - most people shouldn't need to touch telecoding options anyway.

As for downgrading - to go to a lower version of software, it is an uninstall, clean up of files and registry and reinstall again to required version.

I have already decided to go to 7.58 but I think from reading around that I may have to go to 7.62. What I'm trying to avoid is needless loss of functionality by upgrading too much.
