Peugeot Partner Engine Codes

Evening all,

I hoping someone can point me in the right direction...

I have a 2013 Peugeot Partner van which requires an engine. Using the reg Euro car parts told me the engine code was: 9HF (DV6DTED).

I've been on the lookout for a replacement engine so I can get it back on the road however all the engines I come across are 9HP's? My question is do they use the same block and head etc meaning the only differences are the ancillaries / bolt on parts (I will be using the ancillaries from the original engine).

Ok, so the difference between the 9HF and 9HP is power essentially.

The 9HP is slightly more powerful as you can see from the table below.
The 9HP has 1750 RPM Max. engine speed against the 1500 RPM of the 9HF.

The difference may of been for legislative purposes too - emissions / tax - so will need to be notified to your insurer if replacing it with another engine type to make sure you are covered. As for what mechanically is different, I can't say - but it may be that the injection ECU will need to be reprogrammed or have the software updated for the new engine - unless you are replacing like for like.

Is it possible that the bare engine is the same and it’s just the ECU programming that gives it the extra power?

That way I can swap everything from the original engine and use the original ECU without coding?

That's the only data I have - I've had a look at the parts lists, specifically clutch and common engine sensors and they appear to be the same part numbers for this engine, so can only conclude that it is the software that is possibly different.

9HF & 9HP are both DV6DTED 1.6 HDi 92 BHP engines.

Do they have the same cylinder head and pistons? I'm thinking to see whether the compression ratios are the same. What about the camshaft(s)?

If they are all the same I would be tempted to do as you're suggesting.

Just as further confirmation would you be able to check the pistons and camshaft as Paul-R mentioned and also the injectors please. I'm just being extra cautious as most places state they won't give a refund on the engines once purchased

Camshaft and camshaft gear is the same for the DV6DTED as are the injectors.

With such small performance differences between the two engines, I think it likely that peak torque figure was just adjusted by fuelling ECU. Not dissimilar to a chipping adjustment, where the torque curve is played off against emissions.

I have a choice of 2 complete donor vehicles, both with a 75hp engine:

Going today to look at all 3 vans, but from what I am gathering is that the van needing an engine is 8v, and donors are 16v, so unlikely that they will work.

If bare engine is the same, I don't mind swapping ancillaries over, but not going to hassle of ECUs etc.
