Always had a dodgy EGR fault of one description or another, last night I tried to cure the P0405 by spraying carb cleaner down the air intake (behind the maf sensor) and also into the turbo air intake. Maybe I’ve upset something by doing this ?
I also cleaned the maf sensor and it’s electrical connector (cleaned connector with electrical spray).
New fault code P0405 help please

Re: New fault code P0405 help please
We've nearly got the same there
These were mine on the first reading
-P0490 - EGR Position Copy (from now on known as EPC) - Value opening too small, intermittant.
-P1459 - EPC - Valve stuck open.
-P0405 - EPC - System volts too low.
-P1351 - Preheat relay supplied but not plugs. (To be ignored)
-P0401 - Air circuit - Air flow higher than recommended.
-P0409 - EPC - Valve stuck during programming.
-P0489 - EPC - Valve opening too large.
-P1162 - EPC - Valve stuck when driving.
-P0704 - Clutch signal switch - No signal or talking cobblers.
-P0344 - Camshaft signal - Signal temporarily incorrect or missing
Check the valve in actuators and the 5v in the pin

Quick fixes rarely sort anything long term. Be methodical. Carb cleaner won't sort an EGR Valve in the condition mine was.

I’ve had my mechanic test the 5v supply to the EGR and he said it’s fine. He said when clearing the faults the only ones that immediately come back are as shown in the pics.

Ask him to an actuator test on the egr, it's the egr, the faults are too similar to be a coincidence.
