Hi,
My 2014 C4 Grand Picasso has had problems starting..
Its a 1.6 Airdream diesel manual with 38k miles.
Im astounded that the clutch is slipping on such a low mileage and I have to stamp on the clutch pedal, simultaneously pressing the start button in order to start. It's ok once I disengage the eco S/S button but does tend to slip at high revs. Whats going on?
Has anyone had something similar that doesn't involve replacing the clutch at a low mileage?
I bought it after it had done 16k miles at 3 years old so I don't have full history

You'll need to post your VIN up so we know exactly what you have and the specific system fitted.

Edit: Removed references to Piloted system to avoid confusion.
C4 PICASSO / C4 SPACETOURER (B78) ESTATE - LEISURE 1.6 HDI 115 (DV6C) STT TYPE 6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
The mileage you get out of them varies according to driving conditions and how it is driven. It could be the clutch or the DMF on the way out.
The only way is to get it looked at for a proper evaluation as to what it actually is. The clutch and DMF will need looking at I suspect and if it is the clutch, always get the DMF done at the same time, as they rarely last for the life of another clutch and the labour for the job is the biggest cost here.

Re: Clutch and starting problems
You've read that wrong somewhere Marc, it's a manual....
I can't see obviously on the parts diagrams where the clutch position switch / sensor is but this seems to be where the starting fault lies. I can't quite make out from the original post if the starting problem or the slip problem is alleviated by turning off the S/S?

Re: Clutch and starting problems
Oops - yes pure manual on this - same applies though - except the bits referring to the clutch biting point setting.
Clutches and DMF have been known to go at anything from 20k miles! However, be aware that another issue could be a leaking crankcase oil seal. I had slipping re-occurring on my C5 after 16k miles with a new clutch and DMF replacement. Turned out the oil seal had gone and oil had leaked onto the clutch causing the slipping.
Had to have a new clutch fitted again.
I'll edit my previous post regarding the piloted bits that are obviously not fitted tot his vehicle.

Re: Clutch and starting problems
I can't see how the Stop / Start has anything to do with the clutch operation - that is purely for engine starting and stopping. You may have a separate issue with the clutch sensor, but that won't have anything to do with the clutch slipping. The slipping will be more obvious in higher gears - 5th and 6th when applying acceleration where the torque kicks in.

Re: Clutch and starting problems
Hi.
Sorry to hijack this thread but my car has the exact same issue.
When starting if I press the clutch down hard and press start the car usually starts fine. If I follow normal starting procedure clutch down the start, the car usually turns off.
It is like the car doesn't recognise that I have the clutch in starting position.
