Clock reset and central locking

Post by Herison »

Hi there!

I've got a wierd problem and don't know what to do with it. When I turn the ignition off after about a 5 mins the central locking isn't working with the remote and when I turn it on again the clock reset itself. I've tried the BSI reset twice but still nothing. Has anyone met with this problem?

It's a Peugeot 207 MILLESIM 2010 1.4.

Thanks,
Peter!

It will 99% likely be the battery. It’s not holding the charge. The clock reset is the giveaway. If you don’t know how old the battery is, or if it’s over 5 years old, then likely it may need changing.

Or the battery wiring is in poor condition, or the earths etc.

I don't think its the battery because it starts every time properly and a few weeks ago the car wasn't started for 3 days and it started without a problem.

In that case you have a wiring issue because the only way the clock will start flashing for the date / time is when the power has been removed. As your remote Central Locking has also stopped working - that indicates the fobs have become desynchronised - again because of a power disruption to the BSI / engine ECU. Once you resynchronise the fobs - it will work again - until the next time that the power is lost.

If the battery is proven good and is holding its charge, then somewhere along the line you have a short or a break in a wire that is causing the intermittent loss of power I suspect.

Does it have an aftermarket radio fitted? Incorrectly fitted aftermarket radios can cause this problem.
Has anyone been messing about in the fusebox recently? The shunt fuse in the wrong position can also cause this exact fault. It should be in the 'client' position

No, it has the original radio and that fuse is in the costumer postition. If that fuse is wrong, could it cause this problem? (by wrong, I mean the fuse isn't working properly not about the position)

In some PSA BSIs - if the shunt fuse is left in the Park position after a certain amount of miles / it should automatically switch back to normal customer mode. I've got the info somewhere - I'll dig it out.

I've had the same problem & moving the shunt to the client position seems to have solved it. Many thanks. Is it OK to leave it in that position?

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum. As far as I know the Client position is the correct position for normal usage of the car.

My fuse is on the costumer position. Could it be the fault of the fuse? Anyways, I tried it with a different battery aswell, didn't help. Shill have the issue.

@andyneile. This issue has been resolved regarding the shunt fuse position, but if you are having other problems, it might be better to create a new post and explain exactly what the problem is and put your VIN up at the same time. Include as much information about the problem, including when it does and doesn't unlock etc.
