The table below gives the intermittence timings of rear wipe as a function of vehicle speed and of windscreen wipe speed.

The BSI protects the rear wiper motors against overheating in the event of blocked torque, irrespective of the operating mode requested by the user.
The protection timing for both the windscreen and rear screen wiper motors is 7 seconds.

I'm gob smacked , so if I did The reboot correct then with it sitting on the drive it won't wipe till I'm driving, and its not acting weird either, I have a new motor on its way as the spindle on this orignal has no splines its as smooth as silk, I've had the car for 2 weeks and recall now economy mode flashed up on the dash panel the owner said it happened after a new battery was put on. So this could of caused the rear wiper to stop working normally ?

Ok, so Economy mode doesn't just kick in when the battery is low - it's a programme designed to stop the battery becoming so discharged that it would prevent the vehicle form starting. So using equipment like accessories / radio without the vehicle running, it will give you up to a maximum 30 minutes of power without the engine running.

Key Position:
Vehicle stopped or ignition key removed: The 30 minutes timer starts counting down only if the so-called reawakening or retaining functions are active.
Accessories+ or ignition+ The 30 minutes timer counts down independently of the active or inactive reawakening or non-permanent functions.

The length of time the engine has been running again will affect the amount of time up to the max. 30 mins. you will get the next time you use accessories without the engine running. In other words - if your economy mode kicks in, starting the car and turning it off again will not reset it. To get another 15 minutes of accessory power without the engine running, you would need to drive the car for about 30 minutes, or about an hour to get the 30 minutes, But 30 mins is all you will get without the engine running.

I hit the wrong button so if its come up as reported please ignore , I'm butter fingers today,..

That makes a lot of sence now and being a diesel you don't need a drained battery .

I do admit when waiting for the wife I listen to the radio so ... Now I must be more careful !

And even more careful when pushing buttons in theses posts , I do apologize

Are the CD/radios coded at all , I've dug around and one book said it needs a code if removed and another online post somewhere on the net said it didn't as it was coded to the bsi , so if i fitted one of my own do I then have to reboot the bsi again ?
I've no wheel controls but do have a stalk so also means I've got to get an adapter to make that work.

Only the CD player is like the till on open all hours.

Normally a Citroen radio is coded to the VIN, so if you fit a different Citroen radio it will (because the VIN it 'expects' does not match the vehicle) beep loudly every couple of seconds or so. However, it is possible (using a Lexia system) to 'introduce' the new Citroen radio to the vehicle, and then it will stop beeping.

Looks like I may have to put this on hold for a while I'd understand it needing a code if it was worth stealing , oh well Arkwright's till for a while longer :rofl2:

The Original OEM radio (likely an RD3 in your case) is VIN coded into the Head unit. You need to be aware that certain configuration options are performed via the Head unit. So if you remove it for an aftermarket one, then you will lose some functionality / the ability to change some options. You will also lose some display info on the main dash such as all radio display settings, computer trip information and fuel economy etc.

You will also need a special harness adaptor to have the remote Audio controls work.

Try to fit the same type of radio as was originally fitted, as this will be right for the car (and should, if the radio is in good order, allow all related functions to work). The only difference I would consider is that, if the old (original) radio could only play normal CDs, a newer (but same design) radio might be able to play MP3 CDs. It will still need to be 'introduced' to the car with a Lexia (to stop the bl00dy beeping!).

The only reason for wanting to replace the original is the eject works when it feels like , saying that I haven't tried since I did the bsi reboot yesterday

I will have to use a CD that might be worth leaving in to listen to , ? Just incase it won't eject. ( as a test ). Ken Dodds greatest hits .. Or maybe Elvis , his biggest hit was the bathroom floor ....... Sorry ......

The Lexi ? Thing a ma jig how and what's this about or how do you that , me thick haha

It's the official PSA diagnostic kit and software ususally referred to as a 'Lexi' or 'Diagbox'. Consists of a VCI and the software running on a laptop that talks to the vehicle's various electronic control units and the BSI for fault finding, clearing and performing various dealer-level procedures.

Sounds complicated , without the equipment,

I came up with a smart idea earlier which almost worked .

I drilled through the wiper and spindle and popped a split pin though to stop the wiper sipping on the worn spindle , when I switched the back wiper on it wasn't lined up as it went down 5 inches and wiped the boot lid , so while adjusting the arm it snapped , so that didn't last ,
Just got to wait till the replacements turn up and get them all flitted , is it normal for the rear wiper to operate when the central locking is pressed to unlock the car ?

I've a niggle , had to drive through rather deep water and there was no alternate route plus inpatient butt munches right up my back end pushing me to keep going why are there people like this ??? Also I noticed a drop in power and also noticed its drinking slightly more diesel , what do I need to look for ?

I've got a rough idea but do welcome other views, lots if white steam was coming from the back but I put that down to the water being deep and burning off the exhaust system , or my gut feeling said water got in somewhere , and its gonna kill the cat and engine and my wallet, it still starts fine and drives , I've a service kit but when checking last week the oil and air filter are new , can't say about The fuel filter cos you can't see it hahaha , and I do hope I have the correct one as what I've seen on a YouTube video my new one purchased looks different !!!!

And thanks to all whom help me I'd be well stuck if I hadn't of been told about this place. Thank you
