Help please

Post by Benscab123 »

Not sure what some parts are called, but where the black plastic bit attaches to the top of the turbo (it has two fixings that go opposite directions). Well on my car this does not fit very well at all and has a bit of a gap. Would this cause some type of vacuum/pressure leak ? And also could oil leak from there ?
Sorry if these are daft questions, but I’m trying to fix my car with very little budget or knowledge 😢😢

Could you take anotehr picture showing a bit of context for this plastic pipe as I'm having trouble placing it on the 1.6 HDi in my mind?

You see the top end of the turbo where it attaches to the black plastic part with the silver tape on ? It’s that joint with the two bolts through it.

Ah yes, I see it. That is the pressurised air outlet from the turbocharger. Any gaps here will result in a big loss of power and probably a lot of fault codes as the engine will not be building the required air pressure. Also, some oil will be present in this air stream too.

Is there any way for you tighten the pipe up?

I’ve tried tightening it but it’s difficult to get to one of the bolts, does it have a gasket or seal of some kind ?

Not a gasket, but it does have an 'O' ring at 'd' below, but be advised, you must replace it once you have taken it off or removed it, as it will have become deformed over time and probably won't reseal very well.
