C5 X7 pan removal?

Post by Haych »

got a leak on the sump cover, as this cover requires no gasket i thought it would be good to redo the sealant and at the same time find the piece that broke off my dipstick, would be curious to learn where it lodged? Also i could give bottom end area a good clean. The problem is the pipe / hose in the way which goes to a small cooler matrix on the front RHS. first what is this pipe for, it appears to go into the intake area, second how to remove if i can with out loads of extra maintenance.

We'll need some photos to identify the pipe.... but I suspect it may be an air conditioning circuit pipe / hose going to / from the A/C condenser.

The procedure is a bit involved and requires moving the Air metering system, harness sheath, dipstick, sensors, splash shield wheel, engine protection, Air union, accessories belt, , A/C compressor without opening the circuit up, to get to it....

i will get some photos, but confused with the need to remove some of the above? i could take all the bolts from the sump but for the pipe which has jubilee clip on each end . Just wanted to find out what it was before i undid it. As for being the a/c compressor, i don't think so as the cooler aspect is on the LHS and is just a pipe style cooler, the radiator which my pipe goes to is on the RHS behind main coolant rad., and is about 1/3 the size. As suggested i get photos.

I said condenser, not compressor Haych concerning the pipe, but mentioned compressor for the removal operation to get the sump job done. The smaller radiator to the right of the main cooling radiator is the A/C condenser.

The items I listed for the oil sump operation are those listed to get to the oil pump, which involves the sump cover removal on your DW10CTED4 engine.

Further investigation tells me the pipe is the Turbo Air cooler pipe . Probably stated wrongly that the left and right side as looking front to rear . Should be as sat in drivers seat looking forward,?

Impossible for me to know without a visual reference of the pipe. If you take a picture and attach it to your post (leaving enough of the surrounding area for me to orientate my way), I should be able to confirm.

However, regardless, the operation for the sump still requires the A/C compressor moving and all the bits I mentioned.

If you are going to do this and want the instructions let me know and I will put up and illustrated guide. :)
