Here's an entertaining "real world range" test which is worth a watch. The Tesla Model 3, (Long range non-performance) Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, Nissan Leaf, (62kWh model) Kia e-Niro and Mercedes EQC were tested on a "road trip" where they deliberately ran the batteries down to nothing. All cars were driven together in convoy.

Executive summary - the Tesla Model 3 and Kia e-Niro walked all over the other others for range in real world motorway driving conditions. With the Tesla managing 270 miles and the e-Niro managing 255 miles. While the Tesla beat the e-Niro it did so by virtue of its 75kWh battery vs the 64kWh battery in the e-Niro, with the e-Niro having the best miles/kWh performance of all the cars on test and managing to beat the Model 3 by a healthy margin for miles/kWh efficiency. (My guess is due to the 7C night time driving conditions with the e-Nero having a heat pump and Model 3 only having a resistance heater)

The worst was the Mercedes EQC which only managed 194 miles despite having an 80kWh battery. The 62kWh Leaf was also a disappointment only managing 208 miles from a battery only marginally smaller than the e-Niro which managed 255 miles from 64kWh.

I'm not sure what the secret sauce is but the Tesla Model 3 and all Kia/Hyundai models really stand out head and shoulders above every other BEV in the efficiency stakes. The BEV models from most other legacy auto makers really are woefully inefficient.

Just seen an advert on thev telly for the DS3 Crossback E-Tense 100% electric SUV

Taking orders now, I'm guessing it will be way more expensive than the MG SUV :-D

Looking at the Finance lease figures they quote and the assumption that residuals in 4 years will be higher for the EV, I would suggest the OTR price will be in the low to mid 30k range, making it considerably more expensive than the MG!! Not that surprising given the origins of each car and remembering that DS is supposed to be the posh (sorry, luxury) arm of Citroen! :)

Having watched Jonny's review my opinion seems to be in line with his conclusions. A lot of money for a car with more emphasis on posh than on performance. Not for me!! :)

Excellent, I notice there's a request a brochure thing on the DS website. When I was going round the various garages to do a Car A-Z scrapbook, with the younger generation....cutting/sticking A is for audi, B is for Bentley etc, I would say the majority have now abandoned the "in showroom brochure" just to pick up.

Prince Charles, the heir to throne, travelled around 80 miles to Davos from the Swiss city St Gallen in an electric Jaguar to deliver a keynote address to business and political leaders.

While researching the conversion of my MX3 I came across this site which I think may be of interest to other FCFers! :)

Do I detect a potential EV on the way Eric? :)
Not yet Mick, can't, don't want to, afford a new one and the used ones don't have the range I need, I'm looking at Nissan Note diesels mainly but so far they all seem to be too far away or with huge mileage on the clock.

While we wait for the Fully Charged review of the Skoda Citigo here's one to try

Regards Neil

PS while looking to see if Fully Charged had given it once-over I noticed Fully Charged have started a little set of videos on first time electric vehicle "ownership" presented by Maddie.....have to say she doesn't jump in at the bargain basement level but ends up leasing one of the best range/value combos but still in the desirable but currently out of reach price levels for your average josephine or joe.

Don't buy an EV. I test drove one a few years ago. It was hard to handle, I had several minor shunts, it had a long pole at the back conducting the electric from the ceiling, and cost £3.00 for a 4min journey. At those rates it'd cost me hundreds for my daily commute. I'm still waiting for my change from a fiver, by the way, from the tattooed salesman who took my money.

Of course if you live near Milton Keynes, like Maddie in her video you can go down to the EV Experience Centre, and drive a few different electric cars
