Hi All,
Can anyone help me.
I have a Citroen Relay 2.2 09. Its started making an intermittent noise sound like a wrattling heat shield only it happens after I turn off the engine.
Becasue of this I am thinking it is something electrically operated and initially thought EGR but the EGR appear to be vacume operated only so short of settling as the vacume dissipaits I dont think it is that.
This sounds like a valve is being operated but it sounds very dry, tight!
Can anyone help me identify items that will operate after the engine is off?
Thanks
Vince

EGR valves often have a 'cleaning cycle' to prevent sticking. Although they operate with a vacuum, they are generally electrovalves. When you switch the ignition off, you may hear a whirring noise and that can be the EGR flaps moving, but it's not a rattling sound.
It may be the vibration of the engine stopping that is making a loose heat shield rattle.

Yeah no the engine has stopped by this time and I have time to climb out and walk around to the front to hear this noise.
It sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine and I think the EGR is at the back by the baulhead.
It does sound like something is being operated that is woefully under lubricated.
