Radio in and out

Post by richieboy007 »

Having just got a c5 56 plate, really pleased with the car apart from the radio sounds like you are continually going through tunnels. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it, as the 'radio' seems to be incorporated into the display too.
Running out of cds to listen to!!
Thanks

Try adjusting the audio settings - there should be a 'LOUDNESS' option - turn that on, and fiddle with the BASS and TREBLE settings, as the last owner may have preferred a 'tinny' sound.

Yes, the RD4 is not just the radio - it also, along with the multifunction display is integrated into the car's systems - so I would advise against replacement (except with another unit) or you will loose functionality and display of key information.

It's not the sound, it's the radio barely holding onto any station. Very frustrating!

On the earlier C5 it was not unknown for the aerial base to be at fault. You might want to get a Lexia onto her, to see what error codes there are (the aerial base would not cause the EML to come on).

You said "sounds like" and didn't mention a tuning issue - that will be a different problem then.

It could be several things:
1) Water ingress into the aerial base, corrodes the electronics in the base unit
2) The Tuner in the RD4 Unit itself. Although these are generally very reliable, so I would try attack the aerial issue first.

Pop your VIN up so I know exactly what kit you have.

The roof aerial on the Mk1 incorporates an amplifier. It's possible that this has failed or the power is no longer being fed to it. I'm assuming that the Mk2 is the same and that yours is the Mk2 from your My cars information.
