The MyDS app will show the last parking location, but ONLY if it is synchronised with the car when you turn off the ignition. The trick is to make sure the app and the car are connected before turning off the ignition... this is a bluetooth connection, so if you've been using the phone connected via USB cable you have to unplug it and give it a chance to reconnect again via Bluetooth. It's very irritating having to do this every time if you use CarPlay via the USB, for example, and want the journey details and car location to update before you get out of the car.

It is a right faff, and I've given the DS Support Team plenty of feedback about it! The worst thing is that the Bluetooth connection is by no means immediate, and it can take several goes at opening and closing the app to get it to connect to the car...

Thanks Badger that does make sense. I don’t use Bluetooth at all on the phone to save battery life, will have to start putting it on.

How about:
Save a place
1 On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2 Search for a place, tap a marker, or touch and hold a spot on the map.
3 Tap the name or address of the place.
4 Tap Save choose a list.

Sounds less of a faff than the bluetooth lashup.

The latest TomTom software (as of about 3 months ago) is quite good, when the GPS is turned off it uploads the current location to their server, and if you open their app on a smartphone it offers to guide you to your destination if you have not reached it. It will also guide you back to the car later. Surprisingly this upgrade was rolled out to devices up to 7 years old.

I think the point here is that when you are paying over £45k for a DS7 (Ultra Prestige Trim) base price, you really expect more thought to have gone into the technology - specifically from the functionality and the end user point of view.

If I were paying this sort of money for a high specification and technologically advanced vehicle, the last thing I would want adorning my windscreen is a Tom Tom! (I know Mike was not suggesting this as an alternative, but just pointing out a feature of the stand alone units).

It is a failing of the current offerings that they fall down in so many departments including connectivity, usability and what you have to do from an end user perspective to get these to link up with wifi / data service / devices.

I think it is a failing of the software developers and the designers to dump these later telematics units on the public, give them a bible-sized user manual and say "there you go"!

I've lost count of the number of people on the Forum asking how to operate a function or connect a device which is testament to the confusion out there.....

Tom Tom is fitted and working for 3 years then you have to subscribe for updates. Problem is I bought my car used and it had been disconnected from the main system. I know an update is now available and it’s going in next week to get everything working correctly. Data sharing must also be turned on so informs your mobile phone via Bluetooth lots of features including location.
The problem is lack of information on how to use it.
